Eiscafé Acero — Restaurant in Basel

We used to come here every Sunday, probably we have spent over 500 CHF in ice cream over the summer, however after today we won't be going back again. We knew it is cash only and that it was going to close at 8 pm (Sunday August 27th), we arrived to the shop at 7:45 and realized we didn't have enough cash (we think they raised the prices) we went to the closest ATM and came back at 7:55 pm, we approached the counter and instead of greeting, this lady yells at us in german "NO MORE ICE CREAM WE ARE CLOSE!) doesn't even look at us and takes the ice cream car to the back and shuts the door on our face. Cute little bistro with a small selection of items like mezze, quiches, Belgian waffles, salads and soups. The tea comes in small Asian style iron cans and they keep a nice selection around. The waffle with maple syrup was really delicious and the mezze mix was tasty too but super pricey for the amount you're getting (chf16). Service varied from nice and friendly to unceremonious upfront and direct... not intentionally however not too welcoming either. Would probably go for the waffles or to try their ice creams. Oh yeah it's cosily setup with some lovely wall art...

I used to come once a month, but not coming back after the terrible incident with a disrespectful waiter. After waiting long at a table, he decided not to serve me anything else than bottled drinks because he said he was busy. Then he insulted and kicked me away when I saw him preparing some blended ice-cafes and asked him if I could have a frappe. Why would I go to an ice cafe to ask for a bier or a cola? Disgusting...
