Chez Jeannot — Restaurant in Basel

I chose this restaurant after seeing the rating on google maps. They even have a sticker on the door with some good rating according to tripadvisor or another organisation. The interior is very interesting, menu tempting. Unfortunately food was really dissapoiting, especially for the price. It was not balanced, not interesting, and just not tasty. I pushed myself to finish because I knew that for the next hours there will be no other chance to eat as we had a guided tour planned. Melon soup was made of watermelon, which is just not that you would expect. Its totally different fruit. Why not to write 'watermelon soup' in the menu instead? Staff was shouting to each other from two opposite ends of the restaurant, very laudly, through the whole time we ate. Especially 'Sebastian' was called several times. We laughed about that, as its my husbands name, and all the time he thought he is called. But definitelly its not professional, and I can not imagine I come there for a business dinner an thos happens. We were there around 16:00. There was no food when we went at around 5:30pm. Only ice pops but it was a lovely place to rest our feet and get a drink.

The chocolate and banana pop was delicious. Wasn’t impressed with homemade iced tea. The staff were lovely and the decor interesting in line with the Tinguely Museum.

Wir waren heute Nachmittag zu viert mit 2 Kindern im Restaurant. Als wir ankamen bekammen wir nicht mal eine Karte und wurden schon gefragt was wir möchten.Das Restaurant ist sehr schön gestaltet und das was wir bestellt hatten war auch sehr fein (Wähe, Pommes, Eis etc). Aber für das was wir bezahlt haben war der Service schlecht. Wir wurden erst nach der Bestellung darauf hingewiesen das es auch eine Kinderkarte gibt, sonst hätte ich was anderes bestellt. Beim Cappuccino wurde kein Zucker dazugegeben, mein Sohn hatte ein Eis aber keinen Löffel dazu, die Bedienung hat es noch gesehen das ich ihm meinen Kaffeelöffel gegeben habe und nicht mal dann bekam er einen. Ganz zum Schluss ging mein 5 Jähriger zu der Bedienung und hat ganz lieb gefragt ob sie ihm die Truhe vom Eis auswaschen könnte damit er spielen kann, die Anwort: Dort ist das WC du kannst es selber ausspülen.
