Apfelgold — Restaurant in Bern

I have travelled the world extensively over 40 years. I ate at all restaurants ranging from pop & mom’s to Michelin three stars. This is my honest review of Apfelgold coffee joint in Bern, Switzerland.

Fantastic coffee spot in Bern! The atmosphere is incredibly cozy, with communal tables and plenty of people reading—an ideal place to relax or even strike up a conversation if you’re feeling social.

I tried the apple crumble pie, which was absolutely delicious—made with high-quality apples and evoking the comforting taste of a homemade dessert. The pistachio tartlet was another standout, featuring a rich pistachio paste filling and a crunchy pistachio crumble on top. Both were truly delightful. The cappuccino was also expertly made, complementing the pastries perfectly.

One minor suggestion: for the apple crumble and large pie slices, slightly bigger forks and knives would make them easier to enjoy. But aside from that, everything was excellent.

Donat Berger, die Person hinter dem Apfelgold, ist der König der Desserts in Bern! Sein Lokal, das Apfelgold, ist das Mekka aller Süssspeise Liebhaber. Das Apfelgold ist wunderschöne eingerichtet mit alten Möbeln. Es erinnert mehr an ein Wohnzimmer als an ein Restaurant. Sein Singnature-Dish, die „Schoggibombe“ ist der Knaller im Angebot! Schokoladenliebhaber kommen dort ganz sicher mehr als genug auf ihre Rechnung. Es gibt immer wieder neue Süssspeisen in der Vitrine zu entdecken. Auch bei den Getränken gibt es vieles zu entdecken. Mainstreamgetränke sucht man zum Glück vergeblich. Es gibt eine recht grosse Auswahl an Getränken von kleinen Herstellern. Auch beim Bier gibt es eine kleine, aber feine Auswahl an Craft-Bieren. Ein Highlight für mich ist jedoch die verschiedenen Cidre aus der Schweiz. Last but not least, auch beim Kaffee gibt es keine Abstriche, er schmeckt wunderbar.
