EnVie Vegan — Restaurant in Carouge

My partner and I visited EnVie for lunch on a Saturday. I had the crispy queen wrap while my girlfriend had the riz chaufa. The food was really good and we would definitely go back to try something else as they have lots of appealing options in the menu.

Perhaps the only downside is the way this place is run, which is a complete mess. First you need to queue to order and there is only one till which means that you may have to wait for a while. Secondly, you see the menu only once you are very close to the counter so you end up deciding what you want in front of the person taking the order which is not ideal. On top of that, there is a decent terrace but effectively invisible so you won’t realize unless you ask the cashier whether there are seats to eat in.

Overall, the experience was positive because the food was good but there are so many opportunities improvements which would make EnVie a much better...

The burgers were tasty.

The cashier seemed impatient and inattentive when taking our orders. I don't know if he was annoyed because we didn't speak French, or if he was just having a bad day. They got our order wrong, and (combined with some confusion over whether this is actually supposed to be our order or not) this caused us a long wait. They asked us to sit outside in the cold, even though we are vaccinated and there was a free table inside. Apparently, they believe that the Covid certificate is "discrimination". A hectic atmosphere due to couriers constantly going in and out (not wearing masks, and eating inside which we weren't allowed?).

Conclusion: Good food, but we couldn't really enjoy it due to a long wait and staying in the cold. Not a good experience and not that much food...

Food is average at best - I have had great vegan food in the past, like vegan burgers made with mushrooms where you actually taste different layers of food and you can tell what you are eating. Unfortunately this is the type of vegan place where food is covered by sauces or sugar. As a result, all food taste like the sauce is in there or the sugar they put. Sure, it's good enough if you are in hangover or hungry, but if you have any palate at all it will bore you after 2 bites. Not good vegan cuisine.

Service is below average, even for Geneva. The waiters are shuffling you around even if the restaurant is empty and are not...
