Café Zschaler — Restaurant in Chur

The food was good, but the service was terrible. We wanted to order a daily menu, but the waiter told us they ran out of daily menus. Obviously, we had to have another look at the menu (which is all in German) - the waiter told us she had no time to explain the menu to us and she would come later. She came back after a few minutes and I said we struggled to understand the menu so she rolled her eyes and started to explain the omelet section...

Situated in a scenic location on the edge of the historic old city, Café Zschaler was a highlight of our visit to Chur. Everything, from the cakes to the ice cream rolls and coffee, were exquisite. Moreover, the proprietor and staff were most welcoming and very accommodating, making our first time visit to the Chur Altstadt...

Nein, hier möchte man nicht bleiben. Da die Stühle im von der Straße abgewandten Teil des Cafés nass waren, baten wir einige zu trocknen. Das war der Bedienung wohl zu viel Aufwand, weil sie alleine sei, und verwies auf die Straßenseite, die uns aber zu laut war. Gestresst und unguter Laune, abweisend und vorwurfsvoll blickend, und scheinbar nun merkend, dass ihr Verhalten Gästen gegenüber unhöflich ist, bot sie dann doch an, Stühle zu trocknen und kurz zu warten. In einer solchen Atmosphäre als Gast zu bleiben, darauf hatten wir aber bereits keine Lust mehr, was die Dame dann wohl auch merkte. Alternativen gibt es in Chur genügend, wo wir auch gerne gesehen waren, ohne das Personal belästigen zu müssen. Und die Antwort des Inhabers hierauf sagt doch...
