Grotto Figini — Restaurant in Circolo di Carona

Very sad to report, given my close proximity to this restaurant, that I have recently had my last meal there.

At no point did the service make us feel welcome. We felt rushed in our drink order and ended up with a glass of wine each instead of the bottle we thought we'd ordered. And when it came to us providing feedback on the overhung, dried out and overcooked steaks, the waitress clearly had absolutely no interest in our opinion of their cooking or our enjoyment (or lack thereof) of our evening.

To top everything off we, and everyone else, were treated to the spectacle of one of the waiting staff having a fight with a customer who seemed to have been double parked due to the inadequate parking facilities and/or organization...

We called to reserve a table in advance. Upon arrival we waited a few minutes before someone approached us. Then we waited a few additional minutes so that the staff could arrange a table-end cause obviously our reservation was forgotten. We were seated next to a party of 5 among which 3 young children who yelled all meal long + a dog that barked non stop. It toke 45 minutes to be served. Pasta and salad! In Tessin "tourists" are just tolerated and considered as milking cows. It is disgusting. Not...

Cute area of Lugano, with some original grotto-style restaurants (though they have since expanded from their grotto origins and the dining area isn't actually in a grotto). Had some fresh pasta with a creamy topping, and wife had some even tastier pasta with pesto (can't remember all the names!)
