Ristorante Barcaioli — Restaurant in Circolo di Carona

I was looking forward to, because of the great rating. The seat outside (not in the Wintergarden) is nice, see my pictures. The menu, however, was, well, common. Well, not really common but, IMHO, below. I was expecting some more seefood on the lake, some spaghetti with muscles or crab or whatnot. At the end I ordered, classic: Pizza 😥 because I was not able to find anything else. If you're a fan or Polenta or Risotto, it's your place to go. The Pizza is ok. The dough seems to be bought, the tomato sauce it of the can. But it was ok When I asked to pay with card, it has been ignored. As the ship was arriving I had no time to argue, so I had to leave paying with cash and leaving a HUGE Tip, which I did not want to give at all but...

Me and my girlfriend came here on our first day of our trip and enjoyed the mushroom pasta and chili garlic pasta. We were blown away by how good it was!! We then spent the next week touring other restaurants in lugano from everything from 5 star hotel rooftop dining to white cloth tabled places. Everytime we kept comparing their foods to the standard set by this one. We ended our trip coming back to have another go to see if it wasn't rose tinted glasses. Just as good as the first time and easily the BEST meals of our trip!! Highly...

This restaurant is just what I expected having dinner close to the border to italy...

The staff and service was just super nice and very corteus.

If you pick something to eat dont miss out on the risotto! it is magnificent and suuuuper awesome...
