Great place! Something missing from Locarno!

Very nice atmosphere!

Nice aperitifs (alcoholic and non-alcoholic), good wine and of course different types of Japanese sake! Within a week we went twice. First time for the sushi / sashimi. The second time we tried the Peking duck; we ordered 1-2 days in advance and it was the first one served in Akira! (I took photos of the duck before it was cut in pieces and prepared for us and of the delicious soup that goes with the menu)! Very well presented and tasted very good!

The gelati and the Mochi were just what one needs to complete a nice meal!

Purtroppo l’esperienza culinaria è stata deludente. A parte gli edamame, che erano l’unico elemento con un minimo di sale, tutto il resto mancava completamente di condimento o spezie. I ravioli erano ripieni di gamberetti surgelati, pieni d’acqua e dal sapore poco fresco. Il sushi era relativamente fresco, ma privo di sapore – mancavano spezie, salse o anche solo un’alga nori ben aromatizzata, sembrava di mangiare qualcosa di insapore.

Il servizio era mal organizzato: mi è stata servita una parte dell’antipasto, poi il piatto principale, e solo dopo aver finito quest’ultimo è arrivata l’altra metà dell’antipasto. Non sono state servite salse speciali. Il wasabi era in realtà rafano colorato di verde, e lo zenzero era secco. A parte la salsa di soia, mancavano completamente condimenti come olio al peperoncino, paste o altre tipiche salse giapponesi.

Il menù era un miscuglio confuso: sushi, ravioli, pasta, e altri piatti asiatici senza un filo logico. L’arredamento ricordava un ristorante di pesce, e anche se l’intenzione fosse offrire pesce fresco, solo una pianta sembrava vagamente giapponese. Il resto era un mix di elementi tailandesi, vietnamiti, filippini, coreani e cinesi – una coerenza stilistica sarebbe stata più gradevole e avrebbe migliorato l’atmosfera.

Non credo che in cucina ci fosse qualcuno con esperienza autentica nella gastronomia giapponese. I prezzi sono sopra la media, ingiustificati sia per la qualità del cibo che per l’esperienza complessiva. A questi prezzi, mi aspetto ingredienti freschi e una presentazione curata. We were looking for a nice lunch by the Locarno lake and we found this amazing gem of a restaurant.

Sushi was very fresh and tasty. The ambience was very calm and complementary with the lake. The service was incredible and the icing on the cake. They were very kind and even asked us if the music was to our preferred volume level when we arrived. The food came fast and the staff provided several useful suggestions. We were professionally taken care of.
