Ristorante La Veranda — Restaurant in Circolo di Lugano ovest

The food was very good, cooked well, but not memorable. What will be memorable will be the mediocre service in what should have been a top restaurant. The restaurant was either grossly understaffed or under trained. The table was neglected. We sat for almost 3 hours, having to request water from staff that was difficult to flag down. Whomever was managing the staff was not doing a good job. Water was clumsily poured into drinking glasses and onto the tablecloth. Utensils were knocked onto the floor by waitstaff, and not replaced. Food delivered to the wrong patrons, wine poured from across a 60 inch table. If the bill hadn't been over $700, it would have made for very amusing...

The restaurant is inside a 5 star hotel Splendid Lugano. When we arrived by car, there was no available parking space. We waited a little bit and a car was about to go away and while we were about to take the spot, the hotel staff told us it's reserve for their guests. That means we were not and so we drove away to look for a parking space. It's around 7pm and it took us quite some time to find one and walked back. The hotel and the restaurant looked amazing, the service is top, while the quality of the food didn't feel right especially the hard and dry prosciutto crudo, strange zucchini taste...

The price / performance is not right. The restaurant and the hotel should have a higher standard.

Service: Friendly but slow, waited over 1 hour for food.

Atmosphere: Top, view Top, this is by far the best.

Food: The foiegras was excellent, highly recommended. The meat (chautaubriand) was a disaster. We ordered 2x, 1x medium and 1x medium rare. the meat came well done.... was a huge disappointment. moreover, it was served cold.
