Dear Sir/Mam,
I am Anil Kumar, Tour Manager on behalf of GDSS Travel and Events Pvt. Ltd. We recently booked lunch at Bollywood Restaurant in Europe through our trusted partner Truvai Global. Unfortunately, my experience and that of my group was extremely disappointing, not only because of the food but more importantly due to the unacceptable behaviour of the staff.
As per my practice, I visited the restaurant before bringing my group inside and showed my voucher to the first person I met (who seemed to be the chef, speaking in Pakistani Punjabi). He very rudely pointed me to a table number. I still maintained calm and went out to escort my group in.
Soon after, another person (possibly named Mr. Tim, appearing from CIS countries) approached me aggressively and asked if I was the tour manager. Upon confirming, he rudely questioned why I did not go “to the top” first and hand over the voucher, even though my voucher mentioned no such instruction. Despite his tone, I politely apologized in front of my guests to avoid embarrassment.
However, the way both staff members—including the chef—looked at me and my group made us feel as if we had come to eat without paying. This is highly insulting and completely unacceptable in the hospitality industry.
Regarding the meal, it was below basic standards, which we could still accept considering the challenges of serving Indian food in Europe. But the complete lack of courtesy, professionalism, and respect shown by the staff is simply intolerable.
I also wish to add that after around one hour, when I went back to the restaurant to collect an official email ID for communication, a third staff member gave me the address under the name Amit Kumar.
I sincerely request the restaurant management to: Train or replace staff with individuals from a hospitality background (preferably trained in reputed Indian institutes) who understand how to interact with customers respectfully. Ensure tour managers and groups are treated with dignity, not as unwelcome guests. Provide a clear and professional point of contact at the restaurant for all future group operations.
I want to specifically highlight the unacceptable behaviour of the chef and Mr. Tim, who created the worst impression of the restaurant. In India, even a roadside restaurant staff treats their guests with more respect than what we experienced at your restaurant because of Mr. Chef and specially Mr. Tim.
For us, hospitality and dignity matter more than food quality, and Bollywood Restaurant has failed in both.
I trust the restaurant management will take this matter seriously to avoid...
Read moreWe were in Jungfraujoch today and decided to eat here. We got there around 2:30 pm. The staff were very helpful and we could pick our table. We were also given complimentary chocolates when we arrived. The cost is $32.50 each for adults (it’s a buffet) and reduced price for kids, based on age.
They had some vegetarian options as well as a couple of meat (non-veg) options. We had only the vegetarian dishes. The price is the same no matter if your meal included meat or not. Typically, meat buffets cost a little extra but apparently not here. Strange.
The food was very bad. The rice was slightly dry (not too much - was manageable). The paratha was the ready made kind - completely understandable since they cater to tour groups primarily. In fact, they are very busy with tour groups until about 1:30-2 pm, per the staff.
The vegetarian curries tasted horrible - they all had too much of a particular spice - maybe star anise or bade elaichi. Not quite sure but the end result was just not palatable.
I don’t know if they had an off day or if this is how their food tastes generally. I am giving them 2 stars since the service was good and the view was great.
I understand the difficulty of cooking in bulk for large crowds. However, it was very disappointing that none of the vegetarian curries were palatable, given the price point.
Thankfully, they had yogurt and vegetable salad available (onion, tomato, cucumber). We filled ourselves with that and with yogurt rice.
I am not sure if we will return to Jungfraujoch but if we ever do, we will never eat here again. A tip for folks is to grab some to go (takeaway) stuff from coop before heading up here. I regret not doing this today and wasting 100+ CHF today.
P.S - The flurry of 5 star reviews below look suspicious. I wonder if folks from the tour groups are being asked to provide false 5 star reviews. Maybe only the vegetarian options sucked and the meat options were actually good. I can only speak from...
Read moreThis is a 3 just for the views and the fact that they were serving Indian food on the top of Jung frau. We went to the restaurant around 12:15. The person accommodated us without a reservation. Told us there will be large groups coming in and in less than 30 minutes, we saw very large groups coming in. It was a buffet style, with one veg curry, 1 dal , 2 chicken curries and Malabar paratha. Chicken curry was very good. So was dal and paratha. Veg curry was average. The yogurt looked home made and was very nice as well, the place got very crowded very soon and to the point, it got chaotic. I would recommend reservations. Note that food was served in paper plates, which we didn’t mind given the experience in some Swiss restaurants. The cost per person was $32.50 which was similar to cost of main entre in many restaurants in tourist areas in Switzerland. We were surprised it was the same cost on Jung frau. The place could have been kept cleaner. With the crowd, there was lot of paper napkins on...
