I had the pleasure of dining at ALETSCH SELF during my recent trip to the Alps, and it was an unforgettable experience! From the moment we walked in, the warm ambiance and stunning mountain views set the perfect tone for our meal.
The menu is a delightful mix of local and international dishes, all beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. I highly recommend the Alpine cheese platter as a starter—it's a true celebration of local flavors! For the main course, the grilled fish was cooked to perfection, flaky and fresh, paired with seasonal vegetables that were simply divine.
The service was impeccable; our server was knowledgeable about the menu and attentive without being intrusive. It’s clear that the staff takes pride in providing an exceptional dining experience.
To top it all off, the dessert menu is a must-try. The chocolate mousse is rich and creamy, a perfect end to a fantastic meal.
Overall, ALETSCH SELF is a must-visit for anyone in the area. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, this restaurant offers a memorable dining experience that you won’t...

I want to clarify that I remained polite throughout the interaction, which is why the reaction felt surprising and uncharacteristic of the great service I’ve always experienced here.
Hoping it gets better...
Read moreThe self-service restaurant Aletsch is extremely poor as the menu primarily includes something (i.e. Schnitzel, sausage, etc.) with French fries. Additionally, the queue and waiting time was extremely long around lunch time. I decided not to eat lunch up there as it is not worth the money. Alternatives are served Indian and Swiss restaurants that only offer a buffet at lunch time but which costs you CHF 40 excl. drinks. That is unacceptable for a "quality" mountain like Jungfraujoch that is charging excessive prices.
Every staff canteen on this planet is better compared to what you get up there.
I strongly recommend to bring your own food/lunch/picnic to...
