It is a bit far from the city center, about a 10 minute walk from the United Nations palace. The area was in felt like an olden day village with a church and small shops around. The restaurant itself also looked quite old. I booked by email beforehand since I had half a day in the city and wanted to try this place since other reviews and blogs had said it was the best place for fondue. They had quite a bit of seating area downstairs and they also had a second floor with an outdoor balcony. Once seated I got a menu and started to peruse through it. I got some still water since I didn't know you had to specify for tap water. There were quite a few items on the menu which looked interesting but I did come for the fondue. The bread came out first followed by the boiling pot of cheese. The bread was a bit stale on its own (which I'm guessing is normal) but when dipped into the cheese it was magnificent. Surprisingly it was cool enough to eat after taking the cheese from the pot. I did run out of cheese though and so the last few bits of bread weren't as good as the previous ones. I also had the profiteroles for dessert and they were nice but the pastry wasn't crispy. Although a bit far it was a nice area to walk around in. The fondue was really nice and I really liked the fact that it didn't split so you didn't have to mix it, just dip in the bread and eat.

We came at 11:00 am and were told they only do fondue after 11:30am. We waited around 30 minutes before being seated inside. We had the steak (25,90), fondue (25,90) and profiteroles (10,50) to finish. The steak was not my favourite. It was thin and too charred. It was also chewy. I would not recommend you order it. I did like the fries though (3/5) The fondue was a whole different situation. It was life changing. This was our first fondue in Switzerland and omg it was good. The flavour was deep. The combination of different cheese and the white wine was amazing. They offer the fondue with bread and you can get refills. It was just too good. I would definitely recommend you come for the fondue - don't leave Geneva without it. (10/5) The profiteroles were okay. Chocolate was a bit sweet. Wouldn't recommend. (3.5/5) The reason I gave this place a 5 was because the service was so nice and friendly. And - did I mention the fondue?

Such a great laid-back place! The food was amazing, the portions were huge, the waitress spoke just the right amount of English for us as non-French speakers to get by and made the right recommendations about the amount of food, they had English menus, we were sat in the balcony (I booked through the online form on their website 5 hours before our Wednesday dinner) and it was a very warm September evening. Such a romantic experience! The Provence rose was exactly what I wanted, the fondue is super yummy and I tried Malakoff just to see what it was (very similar to Welsh rarebit, very tasty), they had chanterelles as a seasonal dish. The place was full with mostly local people. It’s not cheap but then again Switzerland is an expensive country! And the value for money was awesome! All in all, an amazing experience (and I’m very hard to please!) and I would definitely like to come back.

Visiting Cafe du Soleil was really disappointing experience. I made reservation a week in advance to make sure everything goes smoothly. Non of the staff paid attention when walking in to even respond to a greeting. We were seated outside, and the waiting started. Two other tables that arrived after us got their menu first. After 40 min wait and follow up question from our side the answer was thatthe kitchen was busy despite the other two tables already finishing of their meals. Our orderer arrived after 15more minutes. I was not expecting a fondue, salad and a sandwich to take and hour to be prepared. The sandwich was OK, I was not impressed by the fondue, probably because they forgot turning on the heating. In the end they still expected a tip. Do not recommend to go specifically for this restaurant.

We (tourists) came here with a friend (local, lives nearby) as this was supposed to be a little awesome secret. And it is! The ambience outside in summer was super nice (you sit under the moody illuminated lights), the waiters have that amazing balance between caring and letting you have your chats with the friends at the table. And the food is not only reasonably priced but really delicious and also served fast. There are plenty of things a restaurant can do wrong. They did everything right, and I really hope that this review will make them stick to their current dishes and prices as I would immediately return whenever I make it back to Geneve. We had the cheese fondue, which is supposed to be the best in the city and the Creme brûlée as a dessert.

Review edited after owner responded. Not the wrong restaurant! Was surprised by the cold soup (Andalusian Gaspacho). Was told that's how the dish is made traditionally. I wish someone could have mentioned that. Service was okay. Smaller place (size wise), so feels crowded. "Raviolis stuffed with vegetables, zucchini cream with herbs" was very good though. Dessert (Meringue & double cream from Gruyère) was decent. I have updated the review with pictures and actual names of all 3 dishes that I had, and the pictures are my own photos - not simply taken from the internet somewhere. I definitely visited this restaurant. The original review was written off of memory - I updated the dish names by consulting their menu.
