We arrived to Geneva via train and had 2 hours to wait to catch our bus so we found Le Chef at the departures terminal.

The restaurant looks gorgeous. There’s a bar on one side, and a large restaurant on the other. There are multiple cases of reading materials (books) for adults and children. There’s a children’s play area at the end. There is an outdoor patio area and rooms for private parties or meetings. In the bar there are really need “grandstand” row seating to sit on and watch the airplanes. The airport operations is quite the ordeal and super cool to watch. The bar is beautiful. Major selection of spirits and wines. The atmosphere was beautiful.

The downside: The service was slow even for European standards.

We both asked the server if there were meal sized mixed salads on the menu with a protein, but the server said they only had the mixed salad (in the appetizer section). She then recommended we get an additional dish on top of the two mixed salads but we didn’t want that so we said no, just two mixed salads.

When the salads arrived, about 20 minutes later with an apology from the server, we received two beautiful and large spinach salads garnished with sliced thinly carrots and radish, and finely chopped onions. Delicious and beautiful BUT the salad dressing was super salty and way too much to the point where by partner he couldn’t even eat it. I scarfed it down as I was hungry and used the one small bun that was given to me to cut the salt out. I drank the bottle of tap water to myself. We were not checked in on during our meal so we didn’t get more tap water nor were we able to comment on the salad. A half hour after eating my meal the roof of my mouth is chaffed and feels like it’s burning. Not good.

When we got our bill I noticed we were charged $16.90 CH per salad and not the $12.90 as advertised. We called our server over and she said that she gave us a meal sized salad. I said that we had only asked for the salad that was advertised on the menu in the appetizer section. She said she gave us a meal sized. At this point we were so frustrated and at a standstill, we just paid the extra and walked out completely disappointed and my partner still hungry.

This was the first time during our Swiss trip that we haven’t left a tip for our server. As Canadians we always leave 15-20% extra to the server and this was so bad we left nothing. This says a lot.

It’s really too bad. The venue is really nice and looked...

We recently visited The Chef and encountered an unfortunate situation. Upon arriving, we inquired at the front desk about being seated and were informed that it was possible. However, shortly after, Quentin approached us in a very rude and unprofessional manner, using aggressive hand gestures and telling us we had to leave due to a private event.

We explained that the front desk staff had given us permission to be seated, Quentin then proceeded to angrily walk over to the front desk. After about three minutes, he returned with the same aggressive demeanor and gestures, insisting that we still needed to leave.

While we understand that the misunderstanding may have been due to a lack of communication on their part, there was no justification for Quentin’s rude behavior. Staff members should be trained to handle such situations with professionalism and respect, especially when dealing with previous guests.

Despite this experience, the venue remains a great place to enjoy a bite to eat before a flight or to have a drink while taking in the excellent view of the runway. We hope management takes this feedback seriously and reviews their staff training to ensure a better experience for...

I always look forward to coming to this restaurant when I’m travelling from Geneva. Tonight (03.02.19) was such a disappointment. The waiter in the restaurant was super rude. Firstly he told me I couldn’t eat in the restaurant and only in the bar. After finally seating me he took a wrong order (I pointed at the menu whilst ordering because he couldn’t speak English and I don’t speak French). I ordered 4 starters (usually never a problem in any restaurants), but two of them eventually came out as mains. I ended up paying for the mains even though it wasn’t what I ordered and he basically communicated that it was not his fault but mine. Food and service used to be very good, but...

Great place before or after a flight with a beautiful view of the runway. Le Chef is conveniently located inside the terminal, just a short walk out side of security or arrival. I came here for lunch immediately after a long flight from Montreal, and felt much reenergized afterwards. The ambiance is casual yet elegant. The view of the active runway is fantastic, and time flew watching planes landing and taking off. The food was thoughtfully prepared and tasted delicious. Service was attentive but not fast. There was a slight wait before the appetizer was served, but the rest of the courses followed seamlessly. Recommend time: 1.5 hours.

This is Geneva airports ruby in the dust. It’s hidden secret. I was dreading having to spend four hours waiting for companions to join me in Geneva but this is a fantastic place to kill some time and well worth the effort to find. Great views across the runway to the mountains. Open and full of light. Airline lounge vibe. Lots of seating options. Surprisingly innovative menu. Lots of tempting dishes On there. The steak was on-point and the seasonal vegetables were superb. Service excellent - a great team balancing good humour and top class service. I. AM. A. FAN!
