We don’t know how this place gets any good reviews. Food is bad, service is poor, the room is unappealing and the chairs are dangerous. When we approached the restaurant, there were two homeless and or drunk looking men sitting outside who left as we got close ( one came back later), the man responsible for the front of house was absent ( the very nice cook tried to be helpful). When he returned, it took forever for him to take our order. We ordered three dishes, two were almost inedible and one was ok. For reference, we have spent many winters in Thailand and India, have eaten in Singapore and Hong Kong and for 30 years had many meals in San Francisco’s Chinatown, so we have some idea what good Asian food is and this place is far from it. I walked in on a quiet evening and told the gentleman what I was looking for and that I am vegan. He created a dish that was exactly what I wanted and added the spice I was craving! The flavor and aroma of the food was otherworldly.
That alone would be reason for 5 stars, but on top of that the service was incredible. He was so kind and friendly and spoke with me in English (sadly, I don't speak French) and provided a menu with English.
The restaurant is located a short walk from the funicular up from Montreux and is easy to get to. Absolutely worth it! Do yourself a favor...
