The setting of the restaurant is beautiful, and overall, we enjoyed most of the food — everything we ordered was delicious except the lamb, which was unfortunately terrible.
The name of the dish was misleading, and the preparation was unlike any lamb we’ve ever had — dry, unpleasant, and frankly inedible. Neither my partner nor I could eat even a single piece, and we ended up leaving the entire plate untouched. It was also i think the most expensive dish on the menu (around 40 CHF), which made it even more disappointing.
When we mentioned this to the waiters, they were understanding and even agreed with us — encouraged us to tell the chef directly, saying the kitchen doesn’t take their feedback as seriously as they would with outs. The chef came (wasn’t sure if main chef, as it was off-season in May), and simply listened without showing any interest, concern, or even basic acknowledgment. No apology, no explanation — just walked off.
To be clear, we weren’t looking for a discount or compensation, but the complete lack of care, follow-up, or even a small gesture — especially after we ordered dessert — left a really bad impression. In a restaurant of this level, you expect at least some recognition when a dish is clearly uneaten and the feedback is respectfully shared.
All in all, a disappointing experience clouding what could have been a...
Read moreWe had dinner at Saskia’s on Saturday night and enjoyed the creative, sharing-plate concept. The menu suggests 4 to 6 dishes for two. We started with four, as advised, but added two more since the portions were quite small.
The butternut trois façons was the highlight of the meal, refined and delicious. The carottes oubliées were excellent, and the chou-fleur frit à la coréenne was tasty and filling. The moules vapeur in Thai coconut broth were flavorful but light, the thon juste saisi delicious though spicy, and the gnocchis poêlés pleasant but not memorable. The brownie au chocolat with tonka bean ice cream and nougatine was a perfect finish. Delicious and generous.
We were seated in the veranda, which was quite cold, and the service was rather slow. The bill came to CHF 190 for two (excluding drinks).
Overall: creative, elegant cuisine. Just note the slow pacing and...
Read moreWe came for a birthday family dinner in a company of 7. Food at this place is nothing spectacular and definitely not value for money: super small plate to share, which is not enough even for a child portion. Service is almost absent: no one was refilling our wines, we had to wait for waiters super long each time to order the next round, the table was always empty, by the end we ordered tea/coffee and they forgot about it, then after 30 min they remembered and finally brought it quite cold already. And we surely paid too much for leaving this place hungry and not...
