Burgers & Shakes — Restaurant in Opfikon

Great place, excellent food! Visited on a Monday without reservation. Tasty burger with “honest” meat - looked and tasted like a home made beef patty. The menu offers a choice of burgers and for a reasonable surcharge you upgrade to a menu that includes a drink and french fries. We took a normal sized burger and the pulled pork burger. We were not asked how we wanted it cooked but the burger was well done/medium. The burgers were well dressed with toppings and just the right amount of sauce. The fries were nice and crispy but not hard. The place styles itself online as a 50s style diner but that was hard to recognize once inside. From a purely subjective perspective I found the lighting to be a little too dark in the sense that it wasn’t giving me first impressions of warmth/welcoming/pleasant. The bar was dark and an illuminated strip along the ceiling (as seen in blue on online pictures) was not working. The prices are extremely fair and by Swiss measures can even be considered low. We saw the shakes passing by our table several times, as they were brought to other customers. Thank god we did not order any because they were HUGE! we saw different flavors and each one looked fantastic with wonderful presentation. The seating and tables were comfortable and even though not specifically “poppin’ that 50s vibe” appeared to be tailor-made. The staff was friendly and patient. At the end they gave us a HUGE surprise which really blew us away as it was so unexpected and underscored their kindness and dedication. This was our first visit but DEFINITELY not the last! Second visit this time with the family, great food again! This time we ordered the jr., the working mans, the mexican, the pulled pork and added the menu option to all (a very reasonable +6.50chf for drink and fries). The meats are sourced from a local butcher so you dont get none of those compressed frozen discs here! The drinks concept has changed a little; now you take your own soda/canned drinks from a fridge. We saw a few milkshakes flying by and we were glad we didnt order them. These good looking things were HUGE and certainly would have spoilt our appetite! Perfect option for uncomplicated dining fair priced good quality home...

The decor is nice and you get a fun, American diner vibe. The waitress was friendly and helpful but doesn't speak German so if you don't speak English it's difficult. The waiter who brought the food spoke so unintelligibley that we couldn't even tell which language he was speaking.

They only offer 1 veggie burger instead of offering every burger with meat or veggie patty - I just don't get this type of management!

The food was bland, I could hardly taste the gorgonzola so I guess there wasn't much used. There was hardly any lettuce or other salad stuff which you get in other burger places. The meat patty needs a lot of work on the taste and it wasnt cooked enough for my liking, it was too pink. The buns fell apart really soon so they should find better ones. The fries were ok but nothing special.

We had to wait a long time as 2 people had ordered the huge burger with 7 patties each and the kitchen doesn't have the capacity to cook many patties at once. Also, people who ordered after us got their food before us.

The kitchen is open so the whole dinner including you and your clothes smell of oil and fried food.

The prices are low compared to burger places in Zurich but even so, I don't think I'll go again as I can make better...

I had to put one star by necessity. This is a zero star review. Worst service ever and extremely expensive for such poor food.

Delivery had the wrong address by an automated app fault ( next door basically was the actual address) , they called me and I went out the door to take my order. Aggressive, disrespectful and agitated because he was 2 minutes late. Good thing kids weren't close by. He came face to face with me at my own door step. Called the place to complaint about this awful experience and their reply was " if you dont like...dont order again". I guess the delivery has noone to teach him about being professional.
