La Scala — Restaurant in Rapperswil-Jona

The food was amazing! I had fish with parmesan risotto as well as crema catalana with mango sorbet. It was very and very delicious. Why so few points then? For the evening we had a reservation, a thunderstorm was forecasted. Still, the restaurant wanted to make money and was not prepared to such weather at all. We just got our meals as it began to rain and the water just washed away the food of two from our group (they were sitted between two sun umbrellas). The others took their plates and tried to find a place to stand inside. We finished our meals standing in front of toilets... No one of waiters tried to help us, we had to leave all our drinks (water, coctails, wine!!!)! There were also no compensation at all!!! Also no attemt to excuse or so. Later on, one of us ordered panna cotta and informed the waiter about her nuts allergy. When she got her desser there were very obvious pistachios on her plate. The waiter did not want to admit it!!! After a very long (!!!) discussion he made it like she did not tell him and then as if he meant there are no pistachios in panna cotta and like he would not see the nuts on a plate. The we ordered vodka shots and they were very obvious mixed with water (we also saw how the barkeeper did it!!!). The waiter did not want to admit it again and run away immodiately (what only confirms they did it). For such price category is the service just unacceptable. Despite tasty food I will not go there again and will not reccomend this place...

Selbstverständlich, wie immer haben wir zuerst einen Tisch bestellt und sind dann umgehend auch nach Rapperswil gefahren. Gut tut jeder daran sich in Rapperswil immer zuerst zu orientieren, ob man an ein bestimmtes Restaurant in dieser Stadt hinfahren kann, oder nicht. Früher war das möglich und es standen auch Parkplätze direkt vor den Restaurants am Quai zur Verfügung, aber jetzt muss man seit einigen Jahren in das direkt an der Hauptstraße liegende Parkhaus neben dem Bahnhof sein Auto abstellen, sofern man einen Parkplatz in dem schon bei der Fertigstellung viel zu klein herausgekommen Parkhaus findet. Dann geht es die runtergefahrenen Stockwerke hoch per Treppe oder Lift und dann über den Platz direkt auf das Restaurant zu. Bilder hier anbei zeigen direkt schon die Aussicht oder die Ansicht vom Dam her auf das Restaurant. Dort angekommen, wurden wir äußerst freundlich gefragt ob wir eben reserviert hätten und zum Glück hatten wir das ja, sonst hätten wir gar keinen Platz bekommen, denn es war sehr gut besetzt und im obersten Stock war sogar noch eine private Gesellschaft anwesend und so hatten wir umgehend unseren Tisch und bekamen auch gleich die wirklich sehr schön assortierte Karte gereicht. Die Einrichtung ist wirklich sehr ansprechend und sehr schön und gepflegt gehalten. Nach längerer Wartezeit, die wir nicht besonders gut verstanden, denn alle umliegenden Tische die später kamen als wir, hatten bereits ihr Essen auf dem Tisch, war dann das was bei uns auf dem Tisch ankam erstens auch wirklich ganz hervorragend gekocht und optisch sehr schön her und angerichtet und von den Portionen her auch wirklich ausreichend. Es ist wirklich sehr gemütlich gewesen dort und wer draußen hätte sitzen wollen, hätte entweder im untersten Stock am Eingang draußen einen Platz gefunden, oder im ersten Stock wo wir waren, auf dieser sehr schönen Terrasse mit fantastischer Aussicht auf das Hafenbecken von Rapperswil, sich sicher sehr wohl gefühlt. Von den Speisen her und von der Ambiance wirklich sehr zu empfehlen, nur eben kann man nicht direkt vor dem Restaurant parkieren und sollte sich davor überlegen wo man das...

The restaurant is located on the 1st and 2nd floor of an old house on the city's harbor. The spacious terrace offers a great view over the Lake Zurich. The prices for the food are at a higher level and the quality of the ingredients is fresh and very good. The menu selection is sufficient and balanced. The wine list includes a great selection of wines. On the 1st floor is the main dining room, which is festively tabled and rustically furnished. On the 2nd there are two more dining rooms.
