I think this is my first bad review for any restaurant, as it is pretty difficult for me to be harsh but here it was really a disaster. We booked the table in advance and when we arrived we were seated after waiting a short time while the waiter was preparing the table. Already while being seated we felt that the waiter was not very friendly. But then the show started: we were ignored for 15 minutes to get even the menu! After waiting 10 minutes we made our orders and got our drinks served in another 15 minutes, but all our drinks were wrong! Overall we waited 40 minutes to get our drinks (from the moment of sitting down)! Then we got the bread after 45 minutes since we arrived and starters which were ok(barley soup was good). But then we had to suffer a bit to get the main, again 40 minutes of waiting after getting the starters. And that taken into account that the restaurant was getting pretty empty(of course, as we waited almost during the whole evening). The main dishes were nothing special, but too greasy to my liking. Once we received the bill, the waiters suddenly disappeared and we couldn’t even find them in the restaurant anymore, so we had to wait to pay. We are by all means not snobs and usually very forgiving but this here was too disappointing...
Read moreWe were hungry after our train ride to St Moritz and were delighted to find a full service restaurant nearby to be open, as not every shop was open at St Moritz in May.
The Spargelcremesuppe (asparagus soup) was divine! It was so full of spargel flavour and the heartiness was exactly what we needed on a freezing day. It also goes really well with the house bread. It's definitely a winter special for the region so I'd highly recommend ordering it.
Our mains, The Ravioli nach Art des Hauses (Ravioli Endinadine style) and The Risotto "Sasella" mit Bressaola (Red vine risotto with air-dried beef) were delicious too. After travelling from Italy and having eaten so many plates of pasta, I have to say the Swiss here also knows how to cook their pasta and risotto!
The most memorable part of our meal, however, has to be the professional service and hospitality from the staff. The two male staff who served us both spoke really good English and were extremely courteous and attentive. Wish all the restaurant wait staff in Europe...
Read moreOkay - so I was in St. Moritz for about 3 hours after taking the Bernina Express from Tirano. Most of my trip was further south, in Italy.
That said; the best pasta I had in two weeks was in Switzerland at Restaurant Engiadina. I ordered the ravioli engiadina style. It was absolutely amazing. I am so thrilled that we stumbled on this place when we had just a short time in the city. It's close to the train station, on the lake side, and well worth taking the time to have lunch or dinner, whether you are in the city briefly as I was, or if you ware there for a longer stay.
In addition to the great food, the staff was helpful and friendly.
The prices were higher than I'd experienced back in Italy, but this is Switzerland and prices are generally higher anyway. Aside from cards you can also pay in either Euro or Swiss Franks, so they make it easy to enjoy their...
