We stayed in this hotel for two nights as part of a tour of Switzerland. We arrived in St Moritz on the Glacier Express. |A really nice hotel. Initially we nearly missed our pickup outside the train station as someone else poached our ride but I chased the driver and we got the taxi! The hotel staff at check in were very welcoming. We were booked into a Junior suite which was lovely and spacious and immaculate. There was a good storage/dressing area. There was also a safe and lots of hanging space with hangers. Unusually and wonderful for an hotel there were also hooks to hang coats- hooray. The bathroom was opposite the dressing/storage area and was large with a lovely separate walk in shower. Good quality toiletries were provided along with towels, bathrobe and slippers. The bedroom area was big with a lovely split double bed (big) and big soft pillows. There was also a sitting area with sofa and arm chair and coffee table. There was a minibar that was stocked with water, coke, the Swiss drink Rivella and beer. These drinks were complimentary and replaced daily free if charge. There was also a coffee machine with pods provided. All in all a very comfy room. The location of the hotel was right in the centre of town about ten minutes walk from the station. The only thing we weren’t so pleased about was the shouting in the square late at night. You had to shut the windows and due to no air con this made the room warm. I wouldn’t want to be here if it was hot outside as the windows need to be open. |The room was serviced mid morning and there was a turn down with chocolates at night- very welcome! We were impressed with the quality of the room. Would love some USB charging points though! |We ate in the hotel restaurant the first night we were there and the food was amazing. We had a main course each of trout and Sea Bass and then a desert. My husband’s peach mouse was divine and looked exactly like a peach! We had a generous helping of petit fours and were offered more! The waiters were excellent and took their roles seriously. In the morning breakfast was good. It was the usual continental selection and cooked food. There was also cold meats and cereal. The cakes were delicious. The only thing we’d have liked was self service coffee and no extra charges for things like omelettes. In most hotels these options are part of the breakfast even though you might need to order them. |All in all a very pleasant hotel. We would stay in this hotel again if it was somewhere other than St Moritz. There’s not much to do here other than stroll around the lake and look at expensive shops. I know there is a cable car ride. It’s not got that much going on but I guess if you like winter sports then it’s ideal. We liked St Moritz but didn’t love it as we did Interlaken or Zermatt...

The team, the breakfast, the gym and the spa are all hard to fault. Especially the reception team stands out for their extraordinarily thoughtful and proactive style - the best luxury hotels would be lucky to have a team like this. They manage to make you feel valued and at home so quickly.
The breakfast buffet is extensive and focuses on regional produce. I agree with other reviews that the menu of expensive extras is out of character for a hotel in this price category, but is easy to ignore.
A stand-out feature is the gym. It is simply a full-service gym with well-maintained equipment, allowing a rewarding workout. The adjacent saunas (gender-separated) and steam room (communal) are stylish and seem brand new.
Less stylish and new are the rooms. Yes, they're in the sentimental, rustic alpine style which is no longer on trend, but everything is is perfect working order and spotless. Just the inability to cool the rooms because the road outside is far too loud to sleep with the window open, combined with the comically hard mattress, mean that a good night's sleep is not to be expected here. It's ok for a short stopover as long as you don't have to be at your best...
