We recently stayed at this hotel and wanted to share our experience.
What We Really Liked The standout feature of our stay was undoubtedly the exceptional service. Every staff member we encountered – from the front desk team to the bar service and dining room personnel – was consistently friendly and professional. Their warm hospitality truly made a difference in our overall experience. The culinary offerings were another highlight. Whether we were dining in the restaurants or enjoying drinks at the bar, the quality of food and beverages was reliably excellent. Even more impressive was the prompt service – we never found ourselves waiting long for our orders, which we greatly appreciated. Location-wise, this hotel couldn’t be better positioned. Situated right in the heart of the shopping district with easy access to the Bahnhof/Train Station, it’s incredibly convenient for both leisure and business travelers. We could walk to everything we needed, making our stay much more enjoyable and efficient.
What We Didn’t Like Unfortunately, comfort issues significantly detracted from our experience. The hotel suffers from poor climate control – rooms were consistently stuffy and often uncomfortably warm due to inadequate HVAC or air conditioning systems. The lack of proper air circulation forced us to keep windows open for fresh air, which unfortunately meant dealing with constant street noise from trucks and buses throughout the night.
The bathroom design presents serious safety concerns. The bathtub is extremely narrow, slippery, and positioned quite high from the tile floor, making showering genuinely hazardous. I would strongly recommend the hotel consider replacing these tubs, installing walk-in showers, which would make the rooms much safer and more appealing to guests.
While the excellent service and prime location are definite draws, the comfort and safety issues prevent me from giving this hotel a higher rating. With some improvements to climate control and bathroom facilities, this could easily be a...
Read moreOn a Glacier Express trip with my girlfriend, I upgraded the hotel option in St. Moritz to the Schweizerhof and I was really glad I did.|This is a fantastic hotel with wonderful friendly service. You might think that St. Moritz is just a jet-setters' sort of place and that the welcome would be somewhat glacial. Not a bit of it.||The room was well-appointed, looked expensive and was very comfy. Things in the minibar were all free, chocolates were provided. The bathroom was spacious, the bed huge. Tea and coffee-making equipment all present and correct. The place has an old world charm but has been brought up to the present day in all areas. Our room had a view over the lake from one window, no doubt more expensive rooms would give you the full-on lake view experience.||The breakfast was remarkable. I've been in plenty of upmarket hotels, but I thought that this was something special with smoked salmon and trout, horseradish sauce and roquette. Wonderful! And the dining room is super classy.||And the reception was marvellous and friendly. I asked which bus we needed to go to the station and they offered to take us in a car. For no charge! My wallet was hidden deep in my luggage and I couldn't even tip the driver. He just smiled broadly and said "no problem".||A week or so later the reception helped me by posting a souvenir that I needed from the shop next door. I know I could ask them as they were so helpful.||I shall return to the Schweizerhof as it embodies all the hospitality and great service that you always hope you will find in Switzerland and so often don't....
Read moreWe were picked up from the station and also dropped off on our return. The check in was very quick and efficient. The hotel is very large and looks very exclusive. The room we had is lovely with the most amazing views of the lake. The bathroom wasn’t the best laid out and you can only fit one person at a time in there. There is a viewing terrace on the 6th floor with views across the whole lake. There is a sauna and spa area but I did not use these so can not comment. Unfortunately it was difficult to sit on the balcony as the people underneath us were constantly out there smoking weed, which I can not stand the smell of. |The service was very slow in the main bar on the first night due to lack of staff. We went in the English bar underneath the hotel, which had a live singer. You can smoke in there which I did not enjoy as don’t smoke, and it was a very small room with lots of smokers, however my husband was loving life as not been able to smoke in a bar for many many years. There is also a piano bar, which again you can smoke in but the room is much bigger, however be aware that the prices in this bar are way higher than anywhere else in the hotel. Breakfast - good selection of foods and a chef to cook your eggs the way you want them, which is always nice. We ate in the hotel restaurant Acla, which was very nice. The customer service is very good at the hotel, we had an issue with one of our bills and it was rectified...
