Restaurant Viva Gusto — Restaurant in Spreitenbach

Stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn close by. Their restaurant was closed over the weekend.

Regrettably the Viva Gusto is closed on Sunday. So happy to have checked it out on Saturday. We didn't have a reservation, which apparently was a close call. The setting is a bit rustic but nice. The two generational team provided excellent service and was super attentive.

Cordon Bleus are the specialty of the house of which they offer a variety. Gordon bleu is kind of the turduckin for better off Europeans. Originated from chefs serving nobility, this stuffed meet pocket of pork, veal, ham, cheese (an other meats) all deep fried in a breadcrumbs- or other wrapping can be a very delicious treat for meat lovers, which at Viva Gusto it is. My wife loved hers and even finished hers - but barely as the portions are on the fuller but not totally overwhelming side.

I had the Penne Viva Gusto and delighted in it. A small carpacio as a starter was prepared perfectly, cool and refreshing.

They carry an impressive collection of Italian digestives and bitters and seem to know their way around them. I enjoyed Bavarian wheat beer and neat Sambucca. Both in good shape. We spent just about $120 for the 2 of us, which seemed fabulous value for money considering the proximity to Zurich.

Very much recommend Viva Gusto and will go there again when travel might take me...

When we told the kitchen at the Hilton was closed, the receptionist recommended Vivagusto Spreitenbach a 3-minute walk from the hotel. Boy, was it delicious. Unfortunately we don't speak German, so we ordered something familiar -- the Carbonara. Had the tomato and mozzarella cheese salad with wine and beer. The staff was friendly and service quick. But watching the next table they had what looked like schnitzel with spaghetti with a pomapdoro sauce. Everything is made fresh, the bread was warm. So glad the Hilton kitchen was closed or we would never had experienced this...

We did not get a chance to even try this restaurant, we were thrown out in the rain because we had a small dog with us. We wanted to order a takeaway pizza but we were yelled at and decided to take our money somewhere else.

One week after the review edit: the restaurant contacted me directly on social media after this review. After a short discussion they blocked me 😂 so I am not quite sure how to contact them directly anymore... As they...
