Scalottas Terroir — Restaurant in Vaz/Obervaz

It was my husband's birthday, and they were able to accommodate a last minute addition of 2 guests. They prepared a cute birthday table arrangement, which I appreciated. The dishes are marvelous with great attention paid to sustainability, textures and flavors. They recommend ordering 3-5 dishes in any order you wish. It's a fun and innovative concept. While I would give the food 5 stars, I am deducting 1-star for the incredibly slow service. There were 30 minute intervals where we did not have any food. The plates are tapas style, but you have to wait about 40 minutes for every dish. After 1.5 hours went by and we had only received one ordered dish, I notified the waitress of my 2.5 hour time constraint. Which brings me to why I am deducting another star. Our hostess was rude and scolded me for not informing her earlier of my time limitations. She also scolded my guest for not informing her earlier of a nut allergy. As a guest, I hope for friendly service and an effort to be helpful, not a self-righteous scolding. It ruined the evening. In the end we were unable to complete our dinner. We visited in late January, while on holiday. This was our second visit as we had a great experience in 2020, based on regional produce (mostly their own), seasonality and sustainability. This time, the food was still great, but the dining experience was poor. Uncontrolled children crying and wandering about, which led to one of the two service staff minding them.
