During a three-night stay at the Renaissance Zurich Tower Hotel, we decided to try dinner at Atelier Five one evening, hoping for a convenient and quality meal. Unfortunately, it was a major disappointment that didn’t live up to the hotel’s otherwise solid offerings. The experience left us regretting not venturing out into Zurich for better dining options.
The tapas were a low point. They arrived looking like they’d been prepped hours earlier, with a tired, almost wilted appearance that didn’t inspire confidence. The flavors were equally lackluster—bland, uninspired, and far from the fresh, vibrant dishes you’d expect from a hotel restaurant charging premium prices. Whether it was the presentation or the taste, nothing about the tapas felt crafted with care or attention to detail.
We also had the cheese fondue, which was the one dish we hoped would redeem the meal. While it was passable, it was nothing special—just a standard fondue that didn’t justify its eye-watering price tag.
The overall menu felt overpriced across the board, with no dish delivering the quality or creativity to back up the cost. The service was polite but couldn’t salvage the subpar food.
If you’re staying at the Renaissance, skip Atelier Five and head into Zurich for dinner. The city has plenty of restaurants offering better...
Read moreWe had a wonderful experience here on June 9. We arrived just as the restaurant closed. Staff welcomed us in warmly anyway. Chef Thomas and server Ricardo treated us to a grand experience. We felt like guests in a private kitchen. The flavors, blends and quality of the four tapas starters are skillfully and smartly prepared and presented by Chef Thomas. Ricardo guided us on how to choose the order in which to eat each in order to appreciate the intricate mix of fish (sea bream), two salads and beef. The quality of the fondue is superb. The wine used in the fondue enhances the smoothness of the three cheeses. A layered, creamy fruit-filled dessert was a special treat. The wines we chose (one Riesling and one blended red) were delicious. This was a fun, creative, food adventure that is well above standard dining. Trust in the chef and staff to guide...
Read moreIt’s hard to express this experience in words.. I can only say that you must go and try it out yourself. Máté, the head chef is a genius, he is so passionate about his work and explains every dish in details. The wines are also paired perfectly with the dishes, making the experience even more enjoyable. This is the place where you will try flavours, textures and food combinations that you would have probably never dreamed of. The waiters are also so kind and trying their best to make the most out of the evening. I can only recommend it to anyone who is looking for a unique dining experience in Zürich. It’s worth every penny as the price doesn’t only include the 7 coarse dinner but also the wines, water...
