We were shocked how we were treated. Here is the story: we came as a big group and were seated at the entrance. People some time left the door open at the entrance and left us freezing cold. Then we also realized some of the people who left the door open were the staff working in the restaurant. I went to a staff who left the door widely open when he went out to smoke. I nice explained to him that many people leave the door open like what he did and asked whether he could put a sign up on the door to remind people to close the door behind. Not he did not apologize, but said 'ok, I will do it tomorrow.' I nicely asked again:' we are eating here, it's really cold, do you mind to do it today?' Then he said:' I'm on my 5min break, I want to enjoy it.' I said: 'I'm sorry to interupt your break and I understand you are busy. Could you please do it after your break.' He said 'fine' staring at me full of hate. Of course, he did nothing after.
I kindly asked another staff as : ' I understand you are really busy. People keep leave the door open. Any chance you can put a sign up?' She said: 'if you don't like it, get out then!'
As we have already ordered drinks, and it's a nice friends night. We decided to leave it. Then we realized the staff who smoke outside were purposely opening the door to let the cold air in to make fun of us.
I understand restaurants staff are under pressure and may not always be nice, but this is the next level. I have never seen any restaurant staff torture their guest for fun. I was not rude at any point. Even if I was, this behavior is not acceptable behavior.
We decided to leave without dinner, and will never...
Read moreI regret to inform you about the subpar dining experience I recently had at Les Halles. My visit to this establishment left me unimpressed and compelled me to share my disappointment. To begin with, the service was abysmal. The staff appeared disinterested and inattentive, lacking any sense of enthusiasm or willingness to accommodate. It took an exasperatingly long time for anyone to acknowledge our presence, let alone take our order. Moving on to the food, I have no choice but to label it mediocre. The dishes were uninspiring, poorly executed, and lacked any discernible flavor. It was evident that little care had gone into their preparation. The presentation was equally lackluster, with each plate looking like a haphazardly thrown-together mishmash of ingredients. In terms of cleanliness, the restaurant fell short yet again. The overall cleanliness of the dining area was questionable, and the tables remained untidy throughout our visit. It was disappointing to see a lack of attention to basic cleanliness standards in a dining establishment. Furthermore, the pricing was unjustified, given the food and service quality. The exorbitant prices would have been acceptable if the experience had been exceptional, but sadly, it was...
Read moreLes Halles in Zürich promises a culinary adventure with its diverse menu, offering great food that leaves a positive impression. However, one notable drawback is the disappointment stemming from mostly empty mussels. Despite this, the restaurant manages to maintain an appealing factor with reasonable prices, especially when considering the often high standards of Zürich. The self-service aspect adds a casual touch, requiring patrons to fetch their own drinks and food.
Situated in an old Peugeot garage, Les Halles boasts a distinctive ambiance, characterized by improvised décor that contributes to a special atmosphere. The dim lighting, although relaxing, may not suit everyone's preference, and the relatively high noise level could impact conversations. It's essential for diners to be aware of these factors.
In summary, Les Halles stands as a unique and enjoyable restaurant in Zürich, offering good food and a memorable setting. While the mussel concern and self-service nature might affect the overall experience for some, the restaurant's charm, reasonable prices, and culinary highlights make it a noteworthy choice for those looking to explore the culinary scene...
