Chalet Züriberg — Restaurant in Zurich

We have spent the Christmas dinner with a group over 20 people here. We had fix menu with fondue Chinoise / cheese fondue. Fondue Chinoise was so so, portions were ok but meet slices were quite thick. Sources were basically just mayonnaise with something. We recieved only chips from package as side, no kidding. Cheese fondue was practically inedible. Thick like polenta, too much flour instead of cheese? Maybe. Lastly we were served some wine throughout the dinner. Nothing special but we saw 2/3 of the bill came from wine and water, we were charged 9 franks for each open bottle of water. We had no clue how but we were charged finally 130 pp. If you don't count the setting and the view from Zürichberg, this place gets a clear one star. Just a scam for tourists and large groups, where they know, they will be booked anyway around Christmas time. Just do your self a...

I don’t know why this has such high reviews. We found the food to be so cheap tasting and bland - like a cantine. The fondue has no wine flavor to it or kirsch or even a garlic clove - it is just melted cheese (and with the fires being so strong even with the lowest setting, the oil separates very quickly and it’s really unappetizing, though this wouldn’t happen if it were prepared properly). The truffle one didn’t have real truffle shavings for the price. None come with potatoes, unlike every other fondue chalet in zurich. The fondue chinoise was made in a broth with a pure bouillon cube flavor instead of a homemade broth. The rice tasted like Uncle Ben’s minute rice.

Everything was exceptionally low quality and very expensive for such basic, cantine-level, bland food, cheap ingredients and cheap portions. Really...

I called the phone number on the chalet Züriberg website and reserved a table for 8 persons to eat fondue… When we arrived the waitress said there was no reservation on my name. I then showed the confirmation email I received. The waitress said that instead of reserving a table at the chalet, I reserved a table for the hotel restaurant! No one at the telephone mentioned the fact that there are 2 restaurants or asked for which one I want to reserve a table! The phone number to reserve for the chalet is the same as for the restaurant! A total mess! The restaurant has a totally different menu and prices. We went somewhere else and are not planing to reserve a table at the chalet...
