I had a quick dinner at d'ouro in Zurich yesterday evening. On the hunt for a spot close to the bus stop on my way to a concert, I stumbled upon this Portuguese restaurant. I didn’t know any others in the area, but the reviews looked promising, so I thought, "Why not?"
As soon as we walked in, I knew I had discovered something special. The place exudes warmth, coziness, and an understated romance that immediately drew me in, complemented by the mouthwatering aroma of the dishes being prepared. I rarely find myself in this part of town, but this hidden gem made me want to linger far longer than I could.
The food? Absolutely impeccable. Each bite was a testament to thoughtful preparation, and the wine paired beautifully. The service was equally delightful – warm and welcoming. It’s a family-run spot, with the husband creating magic in the kitchen and sometimes mingling with guests, while his wife, who I believe is from Eastern Switzerland based on her dialect, handles service with such genuine care. Together, they create an experience that feels intimate and deeply inviting.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Read moreService: Genuine and kind hospitality by the owners. Their passion shows through as they tell you about the restaurant concept and menu. I learned the food and dinnerware are all sourced from Portugal to stay true to the culture.
Food: Top quality and perfectly flavorful. My favorites of the evening were the Pica-Pau, caldo verde, and Pastel de Natal ice cream. We also ordered mushrooms, cucumber salad, and mocktails. The beef and veal Pica-pau was savory topped with what looked like minced onions and peppers. It comes with crisp thin fries that are perfect to dip into the pica-pau savory sauce. The fresh tomato and cucumber salad was a nice accompaniment with the savory dish. The star of the show for me was the Caldo Verde soup- it was the perfect consistency and had a nice slightly smoky hint to it. The sausage in the soup was by far some of the best I’ve come across.
Highly recommend for Portuguese food, fine dining, and glasses of...
Read moreMy colleague picked this newly opened Portuguese restaurant. And what a great pick it was. Nice atmosphere with maybe 8 tables and a bar and lounge area. We were welcomed very friendly by the two owners. After a drink to start the evening, I had a great cocktail with port wine and my friend a sparkling wine, we shared three starters/snacks and combined it with a nice white wine. Then we shared three main courses ( half portions) and enjoyed an amazing red wine. An all Portuguese wine card with a nice selection and the owners definitely know their wines. Just listening to them explaining the wine, telling you the story of the wine makers, makes you want to try it. The food that the kitchen sends it tasty and so authentic. We finished with a dessert and espresso. We had a great evening. Drinks. Food. Hospitality. All just perfect. Thanks...
