Il Giglio — Restaurant in Zurich

Tried to go there for a dinner of one at 9:30pm as it is just around my hotel; I was so tired from the flight I just wanted to eat somewhere close. I was thrilled to find a restaurant so close and have good reviews.

When I asked for a place of one, The waitress looked hesitant, asked someone inside and told me they are closed. There are still diners and plenty of empty tables and I was dressed up. I went home and checked their hours and they close at 11:30pm (latest reservation time is at 9:30pm).

I get that perhaps they are fully booked, in which case they can just tell me honestly. I get the feeling that maybe they don't welcome a single guest - makes sense on a profit standpoint but not so from a good hospitality standpoint. I am here to meet friends for the next few days and with so many good restaurants in Zurich, I don't think I'll come...

My wife and I couldn't experience it as we were told at 9:30PM that they're closed whereas their published hours are till 11:30PM. There were empty tables and people were still sitting on their tables outside eating. Another person had the same experience before with this same restaurant. Das Personal ist äußerst aufmerksam und zuvorkommend, und kümmert sich um jeden Gast mit großer Aufmerksamkeit. Das sorgt dafür, dass man sich als Gast wirklich willkommen fühlt.

Alles in allem hat das Restaurant il Giglio meine Erwartungen bei weitem übertroffen und ich kann es nur wärmstens empfehlen. Ob für ein romantisches Abendessen, ein Treffen mit Freunden oder eine besondere Feier, dieses Restaurant bietet einfach alles, was man sich wünschen kann.
