I was really excited about this restaurant. We selected it over a couple of close restaurants in the area. Upon arrival, we were seated within five minutes which is great since we have a party of five. Once we were seated, we were greeted by a seemingly great waitress. She took our orders but shortly after that the experience went downhill. My husband and daughter ordered a tomato soup as an appetizer but received one tomato soup with three entrees. My husband received his meal prior to his appetizer so asked if they could bring his soup and keep his food warm. Then they brought me something different when I ordered a rack of lamb. Did I mention that she didn’t write any of our order down? She also came back to verify my husbands meal because she thought he ordered the meal that they brought me so from that point I had a feeling something would have been incorrect but I gave her a chance. They eventually brought my husband’s soup. He then received his meal. When they brought the meal I didn’t order, I explained to the guy that the meal he brought wasn’t the one I ordered. I explained that I ordered a rack of lamb. He proceeded to tell me that it would be 20-25 mins. I told him that was fine because that’s really what I wanted. About 15 minutes later, the waitress brought back the same meal originally brought to me and I told her that wasn’t my order and the male waitress explained that it would be 20-25 minutes. She stated I could eat it and she would bring the lamb. I told her that i didn’t want it and that’s not what I ordered. She explained that my husband could eat it and I told her no thank you, that’s not what we ordered. During this time, we received strange looks and stares as if we did something wrong. Finally, I received what I thought was a rack of lamb. I share a few slices with my family and then proceeded to eat the rest. The last piece was without a bone but I proceeded to taste it anyway. The taste was definitely different from the other two pieces. I had my husband taste it to ensure that I wasn’t just making it up. He stated no, that definitely isn’t lamb. We proceeded to ask for the check, once the waitress returned, I asked her if that was lamb because I did not eat it. She said it was. I have eaten lamb at times and it definitely was not lamb. I will never visit this place again. I would have rated it as zero stars but that...
Read moreThe best pizza in Zurich. Napoli style, with thin center and puffy tasty borders. The only pizza I like to keep borders as they are so tasty! After this restaurant we do not eat pizzas in other places, as they are not at all comparable with this! For several years we prefer only this place for their incredible tasty pizzas. Our all time favorites are buffalo and Parma. They are truly the best and worth every Rappen. Our children are also obsessed with these pizzas, nothing can compare with them, may be only pizza in Napoli :)
The rest food is also always good quality and nicely served. Thunfisch with pistachio was absolutely a gem, no side dish is needed as it is a perfection. Bruschetta was a bit disappointed as Figues were not sweet enough to contrast with goat cheese, but that was February, not a season. My husband favorite dessert is always tiramisu, which is quite a generous portion. And pistachio ice cream is absolutely amazing.
Restaurant itself is pretty spacious, with high ceiling, so it is always enough air to breath and not as noisy as in some other restaurants. There is a place to put a stroller and there is a changing room for babies on the same floor as the rest of the restaurant. So it is one of the best child-friendly place in Zurich. They offer pencils and paper to draw for kids, plus kids menu with a salad, a bit smaller pizza and ice cream just for about 15 CHF.
Our top choice to come for years, the only place I really missed during COVID.
P. S. Kalbs - ossobucco is melting in the mouth, perfectly combined with risotto, which is also very good and not too salty, which is a rare case. We again took Tonno pistachio - it is very refined combination of taste and structures, crispness and tenderness. Perfect by itself, nothing is needed additionally. Tiramisu is great as usual!
I celebrated my birthday here again and I am very happy. With kids it is absolutely the best place to go in Zurich. It is refined food at pretty reasonable for Zurich prices, and over years we have never been disappointed...
Read moreWithout reservations you can have a hard time finding dinner. We showed up at 6 PM and we heard "two hours" from the hostess, as we didn't have reservations. We almost left until she clarified that without reservations we would be limited to spending 2 hours in the restaurant, which was no problem for us. The menu centers on Neopolitan style pizza, although they also have a selection of pasta and salads and a half dozen starters. The pizzas were about 14" each and looked delicious, and while most were ordering 1 pizza per person, we split a pizza and a salad, that was no problem. The pizza was very good, nicely charred, although the bottom crust was a bit soggy. The toppings were very good (we had artichokes, parma ham, red pepper, and olives.) The salad was delightful as well. The place filled up very quickly, so we easily understood the hostesses concern that we limit our stay (two hours was plenty of time for these Americans!) They did have English menus, which also was helpful. Prices were reasonable for the area, and I would almost say it's a bargain. Highly...
