We came here for our anniversary dinner. We booked a table in advance and they even called to ensure we remember the reservation as a reminder.
As it was raining, we drove instead of taking public transit and parked in the parking lot next to the building. We were heartily welcome and seated immediately. Luckily we had a two seated table and did not have to share our table with others.
As we sat down, we were asked if we wanted to order an aperitif. We also received an amuse-bouche of focaccia with mortadella and green olives. We were also offered a bread basket, but I quite dislike when there is no bread plate and have to eat off the table cloth.
The waiter was a bit rushed poured our water and spilled it all over the table cloth and my phone camera, and also a little bit on the other side of the table cloth. But I guess he was in a rush to go to another table, even thought it was a Tuesday night and only a little over half full.
Once we received the menus, we were also presented the daily specials on a board and also white truffles in a jar.
We ordered the ravioli soup and mixed salad as appetizers. Honestly we were not so impressed. I am not a big fan of salads with iceberg lettuce and salad dressings that are literally olive oil and vinegar poured on top. I did enjoy the shaved fennel, though. The ravioli soup broth was delicious, but the meat inside was a bit dry and the ravioli dough was very very al dente.
The osso bucco was delicious and it was paired with some polenta (but found it very dry). We also had the scaloppine al tartufo paired with taglierni, which was delicious.
For dessert, we had the white mousse and tiramisu paired with espresso, which were perfect.
All in all, it was a lovely dinner with a nice ambient. I would...
Read moreSummary We can only recommend the place! Authentic Italian food, on the pricier side though, in a pleasantly relaxed atmosphere. An unexpected experience in Zurich. Fresh products were prepared deliciously. The only improvement possible: the squid salad was a tiny bit too cold when served. Restaurant products • There is parking space available • The website is updated • Oil or butter was offered as well as ‚greeting from the kitchen‘ • We ordered: mineral water with gas, two salads, a squid salad, vitello tonnato, cappelletti “Angela” and tortelli al burro e sugo. For desert we choose panna cotta with strawberries and Semifreddo al Torrone along with two cups of espresso. Restaurant Facilities • Comfortable chairs. Tasteful paintings. No plants or fresh floral displays • Secure coat check is not available • Staff uniforms are appropriate and free from any sign of wear or dirt • Flatware was not tarnished • Restaurant lighting is comfortable, enabling menu reading, but privacy and ambiance maintained • No background music • The dining room temperature is comfortable and unnoticed by guests • Dining room exhibits an organized appearance; tables are uniformly set Restaurant Service • We were greeted personally by charming owner Angela when we entered the restaurant and bidden good-bye when we left as well. • Staff is friendly, very professional and approaches guests upon arrival and whenever needed without any delay • The payment process was...
Read moreThe dining room looks very old fashioned, with some weird paintings hanging on the left wall. But this is all I can fault at this restaurant. The service was super friendly (well, I actually know the waiter personally) and helpful. It was very nice the Bernese chef Mike and front of the house Anja coming out to greet all guests after service, even on our wait out. We had fish and it was very nice, but the highlight here are the ravioli (the owners still cook some of the old classics in the menu). The wine list is fine. Despite being a bit far from where I live, it’s definitely...
