Very nice restaurant with welcoming atmosphere situated next to the lake of zurich. Summertime has a lovely open terrace. Other times indoor seating in a older/“retro-ish” night club/cabaret styled facility. Some of the chairs fee a little worn (mine had a hole in the upholstery) but that did not stop the feel-good factor for me. Went there for Sunday Brunch. In switzerland “brunch” tends to refer to the times that the kitchen is open, rather than “all you can eat” or “buffet” type eating. Food is ordered a la carte. The eggs benedict with salmon are excellent and the waffle with chicken an interesting and positively surprising combo. On Sunday I reserved for 1300. Reservations are always recommended in switzerland at peak dining times, though in my partial case they would have been able to accommodate us without a reservation as well. The staff was friendly. For the crispy fried chicken on the waffle there was one small piece that was still raw inside. We alerted the staff and were immediately an apology and an offer to have a new dish/serving prepared. We asked for only an additional/new small piece of chicken but received a completely new full serving anyway. The uncomplicated way of providing a solution and trying to compensate/correct the issue was highly appreciated: well done! The kids were satisfied with waffles & ice cream. Parking on Sundays is bo issue with an open public paid parking 50m away from the restaurant. During summertime finding parking close by is more challenging. I was informed by the waitress that they have evening dining with set course menus and cabaret type entertainment during evenings (enquire...
Read moreSamigo is definitely a place to check out to have a great view of the lake and a nice time with friends (including the club and rooftop). It’s a well known place among locals. When I was there for brunch last year, the whole place was pink, now it is yellow. Anyways, I like the marketing they are doing.
Our brunch was great, also prices in line with the ZH scene and bonus for the view - the only thing I wasn’t too convinced of (not sure if still there) was the coconut yoghurt on the pancakes. Rather tasteless (but this is a problem with soy and coconut products quite some times). Still, very good brunch, and we loved the Serrano ham on our bruschetta.
On the dinner side: I tried their famous pizza, which they claim to be the best in Zurich (or, a very good one), based on the dough. Now, I am Italian and I come from the north - the napolitanean is not my favorite version. I like my pizza to be crispy and thin (and Zurich isn’t really a great haven for these pizzas). I have had better pizzas in Zurich, and, although the filling was good (as good as a regular pizza can be), I really didn’t enjoy the crust - way too think and bready for my taste. This pizza style is not for everyone, but it is not a bad one. If you like the Neapolitan then you will enjoy it. My friend was also rather disappointed with the prawn salad (there was only one salad leaf). The taste was good, but the portion was rather an appetizer (but this is common in many other places in ZH). Service was also good and efficient despite the place being full. So: I would definitely go back for...
Read moreOn July 5th, 2025, around 11:00 AM, I had a very disappointing experience at Samigo. I ordered: • 1 espresso • 1 glass of water • 1 draft beer • 1 caprese salad with burrata • Mini chicken burgers
The waitress (blonde, slightly tattooed, older) showed me a total of 131 CHF on the tablet, which I paid in cash — 140 CHF including tip. However, I was not given any receipt, which is against Swiss regulations.
After reviewing the menu later, I realized that my order should not have exceeded 70 CHF. I sent a polite email to Samigo requesting an explanation and a copy of the bill, but received no reply after 7 days.
I am posting this review to warn others about the lack of professionalism and transparency at this restaurant.
I kindly ask to be contacted immediately to resolve this issue. Otherwise, I will file a formal complaint with the appropriate Swiss consumer protection authorities, as this may constitute fraud and failure to provide a receipt, both of which are violations under Swiss Criminal Code – Article 146 (Fraud).
I hope this matter will be resolved amicably and...
