Seebad Utoquai — Local services in Zurich

The place is great BUT a staff member verbally and physically harassed me (female) and my brother (male) for racial profiling by shouting and pushing us holding something in his hands when we were roaming around the place because we almost went to the women's only area. The sign indicating the women's area was in German. Me and my brother are tourists and we don't know Swiss or German. We had just entered the place and received no information on where we can go or not go. When this male started shouting we said we are sorry we don't understand and he continued shouting (in English then) that this is a women's only section. We immediately apologised and starting going back and he said there is no excuse to be there and we should use Google translate (?). The sign was SO SMALL and the space was continuous with nothing indicating a prohibited area or something. He then proceeded on pushing back and told me I should't be a baby and should be respectful of women! We had literally just went inside this place for 1 minute and we were already scared by this behaviour. We went to another staff member to ask about information for the space in order to not do another mistake. Unacceptable behaviour... It is such a pity for such a nice space to have one person ruining the tranquility and well being of the guests... There is always a nice way to say this to someone and not by...

Great place to escape the summer heat, but keep in mind that everyone in Zürich has a similar idea on warm, humid days. When you arrive at the ticket booth look for a monitor display posting the number of guests using the facility--we were there on weekday and weekend afternoons when guest count hovered around 750 people. Several hundred guests limit sunbathing space except out on the three floats out on the lake, which is where we stayed. There are lockers and you can pay a deposit for a lock, but we brought only towels (also available for a price) stuffed inside one of those free Condor Airlines duffel bags and nobody gave our stuff a glance. The staff was great and warned us at the ticket booth when things were super crowded and how unlikely it would be to find anywhere to spread out a towel. Signs are in German, so if you don't speak it well just remember that there are specific areas for genders. Most people wear swimwear, but clothing...

First, you pay, then the information is given, or better said, discovered.

It seems there is 2 decks for woman, 2 decks for men and 1 deck for “mixed”. However this is written nowhere, at least clearly. Maybe you will find a tiny placard where it is said with no symbols and only in German language.

It seems they try to be “inclusive” somehow. But they constantly missgender my couple feeling not welcome in any of the decks.

In the bar, we asked for an ice latte. They put us coffee from a bottle, that seems that was done early in the day, so coffee is not “just done”. You could justify it, if the environment was good or the coffee was cheap, but none of them was truth, they charge you a standard price for Swiss Zürich but they forget about the famous “Swiss quality”. So it was a Swiss price with a made in China quality, others will...
