I had the pleasure of dining at a well-known eel rice restaurant during my recent visit to the area. As soon as I walked in, I was immediately impressed by the ambiance of the place. It had a very traditional Japanese vibe .
Now, on to the food. The star of the show, of course, was the eel rice. And let me tell you, it did not disappoint. The eel was cooked to perfection and had a delicious, slightly sweet flavor that paired perfectly with the fluffy rice. I could tell that the eel was fresh and high-quality, and the portion size was just right. It was also presented beautifully on the plate, which made the dish even more appealing.
Aside from the eel rice, the restaurant also offered a variety of other dishes, such as grilled fish and tempura. I tried the grilled fish, and it was just as impressive as the eel rice. The fish was tender and juicy, and the seasoning was just right. The tempura was also well-executed, with a light, crispy batter and perfectly cooked vegetables.
One thing that stood out to me was the service at the restaurant. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, making sure that I had everything I needed throughout my meal. They were also very knowledgeable about the food and were happy to answer any questions that I had. It was clear that they took pride in their work and were dedicated to providing a great dining experience for their customers.
In terms of the atmosphere, I really appreciated the traditional Japanese feel of the restaurant. It was quiet and peaceful, with soft lighting and calming music in the background. It was the perfect place to unwind and enjoy a delicious meal after a long day of sightseeing.
Overall, I would highly recommend this eel rice restaurant to anyone who is a fan of Japanese cuisine. The food was absolutely delicious, the service was top-notch, and the atmosphere was perfect for a relaxing meal. It's no wonder why this restaurant is so popular among locals and...
Read moreOne of well known & popular Hitumabushi (eel rice three ways eating) was originated from Nagoya. Kokuraya, a Michelin Hitumbushi restaurant finally came to Taipei. I purposely went to Nagoya to try it back then. So I went to try it when I learned Kokuraya offers it. Different to traditional eel rice, Hitumabushi offers two more ways to enjoy the delicious eel rice. The second way is to add some specially prepared onions, pickles. Have them well mixed, then enjoyed another level up of the eel rice. Last but not the least, put some broth into the second way eel rice. It, again, pushed the flavor, taste to another newer level to fully explore & enjoy the eel rice. Anyway, Kokuraya, as a Michelin recommended, it’s indeed, offers the same quality of Hitumabushi in Nagoya. Btw, almost boneless eel & definitely no eel smell made a perfect eel rice dish. I will definitely visit it in the...
Read moreOne of my favorite Eel rice in Taipei!! They came directly from Japan so I guess the recipe is authentic.
We tried roasted, steamed and non seasoned flavors. All of them were amazing! The best part was that they handled the bones well enough.
Even though the meal looks just like the combination of Eel and rice, the dish tastes quite rich. The roasted eel skin is crunchy and a little bit sticky, the steamed one is pretty soft so your tongue can easily crush it.
If you can’t visit Japan soon, this is a place...
