Nights in Taipei are the best ✨ I love Taipei‘s nightlife because everything is conveniently walkable, close to a train station, and there are plenty of taxis, so you don’t even need to worry about drinking and driving! Taiwan is known for its many night markets, ranging from super large-scale markets to small local ones. They all offer the same popular snacks that truly embody Taiwanese culture. During this trip, we had limited time, so we maximized our schedule by visiting one of our close friends who lives there and had them take us to their favorite local bars. The first bar, known as Bar Pun, is a true speakeasy. It‘s hidden behind an alleyway, and even the entrance doesn’t look like the entrance to a bar. However, once you figure it out and enter, you‘re transported to an underground bar with a unique drink menu that I’ve personally never seen in LA. Drinks range from about NT$450, which is about $15 USD. Our next bar was one of my favorites. It‘s a hidden gem located in the Da’an district called Digout. It’s such a unique bar that they don‘t even have a menu. It’s like an omakase, but for alcohol. All I had to do was tell the bartender what flavor profile I wanted for my cocktail, and they would custom-make a drink for me, using their creative ideas to transform it into the perfect drink. The bartenders were super friendly, and we ended up moving up to the bar to get the full experience. And, like most endings after a night out of drinking in Taipei, there is always an abundance of midnight snacks available. I was craving Taiwanese potage, and my friend took me to a spot that serves just that. I honestly don‘t remember how to get there because I was a bit under the influence, but what I will say is that I was totally shocked at how many people were out on the streets eating at 2 am in the morning, lol. Overall one of the chillest Monday bars there is in Taipei, bartender just chats and ask what you like. (Profile, flavor, base alc, smell, allergies)…. And boom a concoction is served! Flat fee of NTD 400 per, no surprises. Honestly it’s so chill, just come enjoy alone or with group. Bathroom has Putin sticker on the urinal so feel free to pee on my dude or ahit on him literally. Owner have their own movie posters too 🙏🏽 amazing stuff !

Individualized cocktails for a reasonable 350NTD a pop - ordered 2 different kind of whisky based cocktails each with a specific request and was delighted with the both drinks I got. Atmosphere is cosy and perfect for conversation amongst friends. If there were a downside, it's only the small space and popularity amongst those in the know - meaning that unless you turn up a little earlier, you'd probably would need to stand at the bar for a while before...

The bartender was really rude. We order the most basic cranberry vodka and they can’t even get that right. Every cocktail we ordered was disgusted besides a shot because you can’t messed that one up. After ordering the first round of drinks, we were chatting and vibing with friends and seems like the staff came over to rush us either to order another round or pay to leave so we left.
