Belle Époque — Restaurant in Da'an District

Came here just to try the brown sugar boba pancakes and soufflé. We are a party of 5 including a 4 year old toddler. After we were seated, we were told curtly that we only have 90mins. That was fine because we were not intending to stay that long anyway. As it was our first time here, we were not familiar with the ordering requirement. So the waitress that took our order was not friendly and seem impatient. And she asked how tall was my daughter. If she was 100cm and above, it is required she has to order a dish. Why? We were not expecting this. But anyway, we ordered the truffle fries even though she is less than 100cm. We ended up ordering the boba pancake and the soufflé, fries and coffee.

Our verdict: The fries and coffee was alright. But we didn’t come here for that. If you want to try the brown sugar boba dish, go for the soufflé with the cream cheese. It needs more brown sugar sauce but still much better than the wheat pancake version that was blah and seriously, not worth the calories. There wasn’t enough of the sauce and it ended up being dry and bland.

We had a post-dinner craving for a fluffy pancake dessert and found this café as we were walking back to the MRT station. We ordered the passion fruit and the tiramisu pancakes. Visually they are amazing: the tiramisu wiggles with soft, plumpness as it is placed on the table, and the passion fruit drips over the edges when you gently crack the caramelized sugar layer on top. Both had perfect fluffy, airiness to them, and the passion fruit one comes served on a pie crust base. ✔️Great taste and perfect combo of flavors ✔️Water glasses are filled often ✔️Friendly staff who let us in at 20:45 despite them preparing to close at 21:30.
