Draft Land — Restaurant in Da'an District

Their first floor has cool, reasonably-priced draft cocktails with standing room only, but their second floor has a "testing" menu and limited seating!

On the second floor, each person will need to order at least one drink, and the price seems like it depends on the day because the menus change, but ran at 400 NTD on 1/10/23. Definitely interesting drinks up here, though, and worth a try!

Per their recommendation for a sweet drink, I got the #7, which had earl grey, masala, and rose. This was definitely the right recommendation to make for me - super sweet, but with complex flavors. The earl grey, masala, and rose gave me pause on paper because those all seem like super strong flavors, but they worked together oddly well and left me with a taste that's difficult to describe! It's sweet, full-bodied, and leaves you with a curious aftertaste that keeps you coming back for another sip.

My partner ended up getting a custom whisky drink because their testing menu at the time didn't have any whisky drinks. It ended up being a black tea old fashioned, which he described as "very good." I thought I smelled a sweet aroma from the drink (turns out it might be from the distilled osmanthus, sweet vermouth, cinnamon leaf, or all of the above?), but the taste was sweet, strong from the whisky, and with an interesting aftertaste from the black tea and sweet vermouth.

We went down to the first floor after, and had a final drink before heading out - the drink with rum, coconut, mango, pandan, and grapefruit was SO GOOD - sweet, creamy, and easy to drink. The pandan flavor was super present, and so were the fruity flavors. It was dangerously easy to drink... They also have a basement floor with bathrooms, standing drinking room, and a little Draft Land drinking board game (unfortunately, they don't sell them...). We loved it!

The place looked promising from the outside. Was in a great mood when arrived inside. Sorry to say the staff was what ruined the experience. Was ready to buy a round of drinks for friends but one of the staff looked like was day dreaming. I Still wasn't rude said hello and excuse me. Took out my credit card, asked for the restroom and thats when he got annoyed. Right there I canceled my order. Friends were still nice enough to order a few drinks to see if they were good sorry to say only one of them held up but the prices for the drinks were reasonable. It's unfortunate the thing I will remeber about this place the terrible service while trying to order and paying. Bottom line drinks were not really out of this world but that was expected cause of the price but since the service was so awful did not even want to hang around. Remember why spend money on a place you don't...

A staff asked me to leave one of the two bar areas on the first floor of the establishment where several of my other friends were drinking. He told me I had to leave that area because I got my drink from the second bar area. I asked him why, and he told me it's because the two bar areas have different concepts, therefore, I am not allowed to hang out with my friends. Guys ... this is cocktail on tap. In my universe, a good bar is a place where your patrons can enjoy hanging out with their friends with good drinks. If you would like to aim for high concept, do it at an art gallery or something. RELAX MAN. There are plenty of good bars around town where I can drink together with my friends and not be separated because of come weird Concept. NO THANK YOU.
