Hamasushi Xinyi Anhe — Restaurant in Da'an District

I used to love this restaurant, but my last visit was really disappointing.

First, the wasabi and ginger are now placed on a communal table, requiring you to take large amounts, which feels wasteful. It also doesn’t seem hygienic to leave them exposed like that.

Second, the food didn’t match the pictures at all. The sushi looked different in terms of color and size. Even the sweet potato dessert, which was shown as half a potato in the pictures, came as just a quarter, and it wasn’t even warm as expected.

We received incorrect orders, and the sushi colors seemed off. We didn’t feel great after leaving. We also ordered a less common sushi roll and had to wait over 15 minutes for it.

To top it off, when my friend wanted to order dessert, we were told we had to leave because we’d been there for an hour, despite the restaurant not being busy and closing time far off. It felt like we were being rushed out.

The restaurant is clean, well-organized, and offers quick service—almost too quick, making you wonder if the fish is freshly cut or pre-sliced and ready to go.

I tried the scallop, uni, tuna toro (favorite), and hamachi. While they were decent, the overall quality was just okay. My friend enjoyed the clams she ordered, but I wouldn’t recommend the wagyu; it tasted more like American roast beef you’d use in a sandwich than authentic wagyu.

Brown spots?! Dirty holes in the fish? Worst looking and tasting sushi in my life. I can't believe a restaurant would serve this or that a sushi chef would allow this to leave the kitchen.
