Wanted to give other places serving soya milk for breakfast hence came here. With much regret to be honest. Firstly, the shop employees are inadequate. We were asked to take our seats and had to clear the table after waiting for a few minutes. Cleanliness was ok but another spanner was being told that they ran out of shau ping.....was taken by surprise for a 24 hour restaurant. Summarising the other not "so good" that rendered the 2 star rating:-
Food was mediocre. We ordered the omelette wrap with yiu tiaw, crispy pancake, siau long pau, hot & cold soya milk and the hot mi chiang. The best was the crispy pancake which essentially is roti prata. The omelette was sub-par while the yiu tiaw was too oily to eat. The siau long pau had a very strong porky taste which is again a pass. Ventilation was very bad. One will smell oil after dining there. Take away will be hit as well. I mentioned about restaurant being under staffed. Be prepared to clear your table, if you get one. Its not really a 24-hour restaurant. If you are keen on the shau ping, ask if there are any before you step in.
This is by far the worst that I have tasted. There are too many around to...
Read moreTried this typical Taiwanese breakfast place and had high expectations of it since the design and layout of the stall looked welcoming.
But don't think it met my expectations. I ordered takeaway of xiao long bao, pan fried dumplings, you tiao, carrot cake, pork buns, vegetable bun and red tea (iced and hot) and the food did not really wow me.
As my order was quite large, I waited for close to 25 minutes. Probably one of the longer waits I had to endure for a Taiwanese breakfast place. The staff did not seem like they were able to cope and look slight flustered and irritated with one another.
The xiao long baos were okay but did not have much "soup" in it. The pork buns were on the slightly salty side. The you tiaos were very crispy but felt extremely fried. The carrot cake looked slightly burnt. The red tea was also very bitter compared to the others I have drank in Taiwan over the past week or so. They probably seeped the tea leaves for too long and thus making it too concentrated.
Perhaps I was ordering the wrong food on the menu but the food generally wasn't to my liking even though I wanted very much to like it...
Read moreWe decided to visit this restaurant after seeing its high reviews, but unfortunately, our experience didn’t live up to the expectations.
While the food was overall good, the service left much to be desired. The restaurant has very limited seating, and when we arrived, there were no seats available. The ordering system was highly inefficient, with orders being loudly called out by the owner with bad attitude. To make matters worse, we could hear arguments between the owner and the staff while dining, which created an unpleasant and chaotic atmosphere.
The delays in order preparation, combined with the loud and disorganized service, made the experience frustrating. Despite the positive reviews, I don’t see myself returning to this place...
