A weird mixed bag of a meal. The proteins were all good, but the side dishes a bit of a mess. The starters of prawn with pumpkin puree came with a large prawn that was pretty good, but the puree tasted like they'd forgotten the seasoning, which made it taste very raw. The mozzarella "salad" was fine, although I don't quite get the point of a single olive cut in half in it, nor the two cubes of unflavoured gelatin in it. As for the main course, which was dry aged rib eye with asparagus and creamed corn, well the beef was nice, although as per local standards, unseasoned. You do get salt and some things to go with it on the side, but to me that never tastes the same. The asparagus was also unseasoned, which again made it taste raw and the shavings on half congealed cheese on top did nothing to improve the asparagus. The creamed corn was ok, if a bit too buttery. Finally the "cronut" for dessert was really underwhelming, It tasted yeasty and although I've not had the original, I've had cronuts elsewhere that were much lighter and flakier. Considering the price for the meal, this was all a bit meh. On top of that, service was not that great, as we had to ask for water refills, even though it was "unlimited" and the waiters were way too fast to clear the table, which always made one or the other of us sit there looking a bit like an idiot, as the other person was eating alone so to say. Then again, this is fairly typical in Taiwanese restaurants, but you'd think a high-end place like this would train their...
Read moreI recently dined at N°168 PRIME 敦化館 and had a mixed experience.
Starters and Soup: The meal started off on a positive note. The starters and soup were excellent, providing a great introduction to what seemed like a promising dining experience. The flavors were well-balanced, and the presentation was on point.
Steak: Moving on to the main course, the steak was of fair quality. However, I was disappointed to find no crust on the grilled steak, which is typically a hallmark of a great steak. The texture and flavor were decent, but it lacked the desired char and sear that elevate a steak to the next level.
Iberian Pork: Unfortunately, the Iberian Pork was a major letdown. It was nearly inedible due to its tough, chewy texture. Despite my feedback and complaint to the waiter, there was no action or follow-up from the staff. This lack of responsiveness was quite disappointing.
Overall, N°168 PRIME 敦化館 has potential, but there are significant areas for improvement, especially in terms of steak preparation and...
Read moreI really wanted to enjoy this place, but unfortunately, the overall experience was disappointing. While the Japanese wagyu was a standout, the rest of the menu was of noticeably low quality and fell far short of expectations. We were a group of five, and none of us left feeling satisfied with either the meals or the service. To make matters worse, three of us experienced diarrhea the next day, which only reinforced concerns about the quality.
The service was equally underwhelming. The staff could greatly benefit from better training in attentiveness and friendliness, which are essential for creating a memorable dining experience.
For a restaurant charging fine dining prices, N168 PRIME fails to deliver on both food quality and service, leaving much...
