Upon entering Pastaio, you immediately notice that although the restaurant does not have a big interior, you can't help but feel delighted by the cute decor, open-kitchen, and, of course, its heartwarming staff!
My friend and I came here for a bite on a Friday afternoon after a morning surfing trip, so we were ready to eat! We started our meal off with their Apple Walnut Salad in an attempt to be semi-health conscious, and garlic bread for good measure! Surprisingly enough, the salad was the highlight of the appetizers we ordered; the candied walnuts were to die for. To be fair, the garlic bread was also phenomenal being topped off with ricotta cheese! At this point, I knew this restaurant was no-joke.
After our appetizers, we were fully prepared to tackle our main course! We ordered 2 pastas and their lamb chops. All of which were delicious.
And I must say, the star of the show that day was the "Vodka Malloreddeus" Pasta. The pasta was perfectly cooked, being a perfect al dente. The pasta was smothered in a beautifully prepared tomato sauce topped off with thinly sliced proscuitto. The sauce was absolutely mesmerizing. To further enhance the complexity of the sauce, there was a small hint of spice in the sauce making the experience ever more enjoyable. After we took the first bite of this pasta, my friend and I stared at each other as both our jaws dropped in amazement. We could see from the other side of the restaurant the staff laughing amongst themselves at our overly-exaggerated reaction hahahaha
After finishing our meal, our hunger was very well-satisfied. The staff and our server were so nice that they even treated us to dessert on the house! ending off our meal with their "Moka Tiramisu."
We had such a wonderful time that, on the day of, we already made reservations for our next visit back! I will definitely continue to come back to Pastaio again and again to try more items...
Read moreAbsolutely loved this restaurant! 🤌🤤As someone who lives in NYC and has stayed in Florence Italy for some time, I’ve been looking for a treat-yourself Italian place with authentic hand-made pastas. This place is exactly what I was dreaming of while also utilizing the best of Taiwanese ingredients. It is a perfect spot for a family dinner or a cute date. We got a reservation here for three people at 5:30 pm and it was not too crowded. The high ceilings reminded me of being in Italy, and the decor was bright and open. We ordered appetizers. The mango burrata was a perfect fusion of Taiwanese and Italian flavor sensibilities. Thoroughly enjoyed the fig salad as well, though a bit light on the fig amount. Everything tasted fresh and perfect blend of ingredients, portion size was perfect. We asked for Al dente (harder noodles) and ordered the tagliatelle with ragu. Comforting and classically Italian. I asked for less salt and the the server was kind and passed on the message to the chef. We also tried the squid ink gigli which was divine with fish cartilage bits. The Taiwanese sausage orecchiette combination was a bit salty but a great blend of flavors. The spicy beef wavy was not too spicy and had perfectly proportioned ingredients for a delicious experience. Our server, a young female was so caring and recommended the truffle ice cream and Black Forest cake. One bite and we all agreed that this was the best chocolate cake we ever had! The roasted truffle shavings combined with chocolate ice cream was truly the most exciting flavor combination we had experienced! If I could eat here every night, I...
Read moreI had pasta today for the first time in 3 month.
I picked this place to be my first pasta of the year and boy was it delicious.
Since the new year, I made a decision to lose weight through fasting, cold exposure, and stayed away from starchy foods.
Even though I ate less when I fasted (one meal per day), it made me fall deeper in love with food.
Since I only limited myself to 1 meal a day, I became more selective of what I ate. The food had to be healthy and pretty DAMN good. I could also now splurge on 1 GREAT MEAL as oppose to pay for 2 ok meals.
The apple walnut salad was a nature adventure. Every bite had so many textures and flavors. Salty fat from the gorgonzola, crunchy sweet from the candied walnuts, fresh acid from the sliced apples and brown butter vinaigrette.
So fresh and so good.
The spicy beef shin mafalde was a delicious remix of some of my favorite dishes. The rich red wine tomato sauce reminded me of the shakshuka sauce deeply missed from his last restaurant, the mafalde pasta reminded of some of my favorite lasagna experiences, the braised beef pieces reminded me of the homey beef stews from my childhood.
And just when the rich pasta and sauce takes me away to cloud nine forever, the sharp, pointy flavor of the sauerkraut would bring me back down to earth. Ready to eat more.
Looking forward to...
