Quelques Pâtisseries — Restaurant in Da'an District

I have had the pastries from Quelques for a couple of years but only from colleagues and friends. It was my first visit in person a few days ago, and a few things there would definitely need to improve.

First, since it is take out only, the service should be relatively straightforward, but few staff had such an attitude and not very well trained. I ordered 3 boxes of cake and pastries, only 1 box with the cake is allowed to have a "Paper" bag, the for the other boxes, I need to pay "$25 NTD" for Plastic totes. I said I don't mind paying for the bag, but I don't want the plastic one. I would rather pay and have the paper one for environmental reasons. The staff refused and insisted that the paperbag is only available for The Cake. I was shocked about their reactions. The 3 boxes were for 3 VIP clients of mine. In the end, I had one paper bag and carried all 3 boxes to my clients.

Second, cash only, it is 2024, and paying in cash is so behind and inconvenient when you order more than 2k of cakes. The service needs to catch up with the product...

Had to buy the cake as a takeaway as there was a requirement to order a drink each even though you order a cake which I find it weird! The cake is even more expensive than a drink but they won’t consider a cake a person for a minimum order. The shop is quite a cozy place. We just had our lunch and headed there for dessert and did not want to order any drinks but got rejected by the staff but anyway we still would like to try to cake and so I bought a cake for takeaway! I order the cheesecake with whisky and it’s pretty interesting taste. Cheese was light and was not sweet at all. The price range for the cakes were from 200-240 which I thought was a little pricey. The pastries are truly beautiful, and I tried the Tahiti vanilla Saint-Honoré, which was delicious (the caramelization was perfect). However, if you are eating in, there is a one-drink minimum, and the only coffee they offer is expensive cold drip coffee ($200). There are a lot more tea offerings (and oddly beer), but I would expect other coffee options. They also tell customers you can only stay for 90 minutes; while that may be typical to announce at restaurants in Taipei, it's a little off-putting at a cafe. They do have wifi, but with the time limit it's not a great place to work. I'd recommend getting takeout for their pastries and having it with coffe...
