As an American living in Taiwan for 3 years, This place is by far the worst value for what you're paying for.
I paid around 120 USD. Over 3800NT.
Let's start by saying that this place is pretty dirty. It's fine, many Taiwan places are dirty. But for 3800+NT, you expect 3800 cleanliness.
We had 5 main meal plates and 2 side dishes.
The first thing that came was the Stir fried shredded beef with scallions. It was 95% scallions and 5% meat. The plate was the tiniest plate you have ever seen in your life. Comedically small. And the food did not fill the plate.
The rest of the dishes came in the same fashion. Tiny tiny bowls and plates with high prices with low quality food.
That segway to the next topic. The food was so disgusting that we didn't finished the food. So it's sorta a good thing we didn't have to waste more food.
The service was bad too considering they charged you a 10% service fee. The food took incredibly long to get to us. We asked for the fried rice to come first/fast because the kids were hungry and it came last. And the amount of attitude that everyone gave was offensive. I would have given it a 2 star for the service if they didn't charge a service fee. Do better.
Basically this place is nothing but a tourist trap. It's almost criminal how much they charge for the quality and amount of food they offer.
Do yourself a favor. Don't come here. Not even as a tourist. This is not a good representative of what...
Read moreAuthentic Shanghainese style home cooked meal! Just like a Shanghai mom would cook for her family. Our family like to go there maybe 36 years ago. I was really looking forward to reconnect with the flavor and that feeling of being home after being away for 30+ years. The flavor is still the same but somehow the missing ingredients to me is that magic of being home again. I missed that slower pace with the owner came out to greet customers and the small and cozy family dinning room feel. I know it is unfair to a restaurant business when they are getting big and need to commoditize their productions. However the pricing tags just a bit too high for acquiring a taste of Shanghai family dining...
Read moreThe absolute best Chinese cuisine ever, though less and less people know how to appreciate traditional and really authentic style of cooking. The depth of know-how into the preparationg of the food is immense and not to be missed if you have tried most of the nowadays tourist-oriented Chinese food. It is my wish that this branch of Chinese cuisine could be known and passed on so that future generations will still be able to have a taste of deep Chinese cuisine and not just fried, soy-sauce, or...
