HOLLYWOOD STREET — Restaurant in Da'an District

Used to be so packed and one could never be able to get in….. but due to the pandemic we were able to be there for a simple lunch. Dim Sum were generally good with a bit of A Hong Kong taste …. Sadly, the Char Siu were very disappointing rather being barbarque it was over baked …. No go mate ! Not short cut about that. The salted egg / century egg and pork porridge was way out … the porridge base was ok but the taste was totally off …. Sorry ! Need to work harder on that to get the taste abs look right.

Oh…. Last but not least, the desert the French toast ….. that’s really something must try. Very very devilish, tasted fantastic. But then one need to burn that of in the gym for at least 3 hours…. If one is all game for it 🤣🤣🤣🤣

The staff seems friendly and efficient although it’s way under staff.

All in all it’s positive but need more work on the kitchen. Will visit again someday 😇...

This place is not authentic Hong Kong Cantonese restaurant. Hong Kong style hot milk tea, you only taste the tea flavor and I asked them why there are no milk flavors, they told me they use whole milk not condense sweet milk. And their porridge is tasteless even with the seafood. Porridge by itself has no taste, unlike the Hong Kong Cantonese restaurant the porridge has umami flavor. The Shrimp dumplings even with 明太子 doesn't have the umami flavor. It's basically little or no flavor. Their chicken feet have curry that's one of the flavor which make it not Hong Kong style dim sum. Their Siomai does taste like the Hong Kong dim...

This is one of the better options for HK / Cantonese dim sum & food in town. Food is good with reasonable price. The restaurant has ample comfortable seatings (although almost always full on weekends). It is brightly lit, nicely decorated, big windows overlooking by the busy street, quite inviting. Servers are just standard, not particularly friendly nor particularly unpleasant. They’re just doing the job, period. I appreciate that this restaurant reserve 2/3 of their seats for walk-in customers.
