心花蔬食館(越式 恆春) — Restaurant in Hengchun

One of the best vegan Vietnamese restaurants I’ve had on the island of Formosa. I didn’t expect much walking in, but was very surprised in the small town of Hengchun, housed a gem like this. The environment is clean, and the food... don’t let me get started... okay I’ll start; Everything here is authentic and the REAL deal. This is coming from a guy born to parents from Vietnam, so I grew up with an abundance of Vietnamese flavors. After going plant based, I had to make my own versions so going out to “vegan”/“vegetarian” Vietnamese spots were always a hit or miss because I based the basic aromatic flavoring to the original conventional versions(having animal products). But this spot retains the flavor of the south, amazingly local and fresh. Props and kudos to the owners for providing me with the hometown flavors. Also it was a blast to use some Vietnamese again here in Taiwan.

I had the vegan Bun Rieu, rice vermicelli with the tomato based broth. First intake of the broth, I was like “get the $&@$ outta here!” This is too good!

Great restaurant! I can see why it gets so many good reviews!

First thing to know is this is a self service restaurant. So the staff only come out of the kitchen when they are delivering your food to the table. This means make sure to grab yourself a menu and cutlery, order at the kitchen and tidy away your plates and bowls.

Not a problem for us! We just didn't see any signs but luckily read a review here.

Food is very tasty, fresh and uses good ingredients. I had the curry noodles and would absolutely have them again. It even had tofu and monkey head mushroom in the broth. Crispy tofu and summer rolls were also delicious.

We spent around 400 NTD for 4 dishes, on the pricier side compared to other vegetarian restaurants we've been eating at, but I feel it's reflected in the quality of food and absolutely worth every penny. We were stuffed!

One of the best vegan restaurants in Hengchun. We enjoyed all the dishes. All foods are so delicious that it is hard to choose best one. The restaurant is near east gate. The ambiance is nice. The menu is in English and therefore easy to read. However, this was our first time to read Vietnamese food names. So bit challenging to understand what is what.
