明水然・樂 新竹大遠百店 — Restaurant in Hsinchu

Celebrated 中秋 with the family here. The location of the restaurant has its pros and cons. Pros: convenient parking at the mall right behind it. Cons: The restaurant is on the 4th or 5th floor but there was so much construction on the bottom floors. The sound and debris really impact your mood before the meal in a negative way. Not to mention, the elevator is tiny and poorly maintained. Strong odor, dimmed lights, screams for improvements.

The reception desk is isolated to the corner so the flow of the place is really odd. Customers cannot easily get around the place because of the awkward layout, isolated reception area, and crammed waiting area. Unpleasant waiting experience.

The meal itself was quite nice! I did not enjoy sitting next to other customers but teppanyaki necessitated it. The chef was professional, nice, and detail oriented - just chefs kiss 🤌🏻 The servers, on the contrary, were pushy and require additional training on...

My husband and I were served by the wonderful chef, Vivian Wu( 吴丽雯）who was friendly and explained every dish explicitly. We opted for the NT1600 omasake menu and it was definitely worth it. The ingredients used were of premium quality. We particularly liked the lobster dishes which were cooked in four different ways. The service staff, Mr 陈弘晋 also made our dining experience delightful. He was meticulous and very prompt in topping up our tea and side dishes. As my husband’s birthday is approaching, Vivian prepared a piece of delectable cake for him. Positive) The food was good 👍 Workers (partially) did a great job👍

Negative) Server, not only a cook, needs to wear gloves as well. He carefully did a good job trying not to touch any food when he was carrying the plates or cups. If he puts on gloves he would feel more comfortable when he serves. I left a note that it's a anniversary lunch when I booked thru the online, but they didn't bring us anything while the couple sitting right next to us were having a piece of their birthday cheese cake.
