禾楓川 — Restaurant in Hualien City

This place is a banger - our favorite meal from a 3-week visit to Taiwan. They mostly serve big groups, but if you are well-organised and reserve ahead, you can snag a table for two. The restaurant is a bit hidden as the first floor is a wood statue shop, which you need to walk through to reach the kitchen and dining room on the 2nd floor.

What awaits is a smorgasbord of Taiwanese delights, served family-style in large portions. We started with a seafood salad, followed by marinated vegetables. Moved on to a peppered chicken (our favorite dish of the night), helped by a pork fried rice which could have been a standalone meal in and of itself. Then came a spicy pork stew to top it off. For dessert, we had fresh fruits and macaroons. Even the tea that carried the meal was richer than other restaurants we visited in Taiwan.

The chef and host were both nice young guys, and very accommodating even though we couldn't speak Chinese and they spoke little English. They were especially kind at the end of the meal, gifting us with wooden beaded bracelets from the woodworking...

口袋名單很久很久這次終於訂位到 美食口味見仁見智 但這次餐點獲得全家一致好評! 無論是食材新鮮度/用料/豐富度/飽足感/甚至視覺 都讓一家人大大滿足 店家是無菜單料理 一人$800以上價位 6歲以下免費及免收服務費這點算是很佛系 從訂位開始老闆就一再確認需求 算是非常客製化的店家 態度友善 雖然極簡到只有老闆與員工一位 但服務絕不馬虎 有別於一般的餐飲店 低調的日式木造老宅建築 藏著不一般的料理 一樓是老闆販售的木雕藝術品 走進去有股淡淡清香 一開始有懷疑走錯店家的錯覺 用餐區在二樓 只有兩桌!!!!!!!!!所以一定得訂位 從第一道的炙燒干貝燻鮭魚鮭魚卵和風沙拉開始了今天的美食驚奇之旅不是美食專家的我努力拼湊照片記憶來寫 1炙燒干貝燻鮭魚鮭魚卵和風沙拉 生菜非常新鮮好吃裡面也有玉子燒 洋蔥培根等 小孩也很愛 2綜合大料理：栗子/海蜇皮/胡麻醬鮭魚卵龍鬚菜/梨子燉百香果/堅果馬鈴薯沙拉/調味螺肉 3.蔥雞肉：蔥搭配油蔥酥的香氣很足 重點是份量非常多 多到還打包 4.綜合大料理(每道都很愛)一上桌被秒殺：哇沙米透抽(很嗆但很好吃)、鮭魚(好幾片都煎的恰恰 配上胡椒粉讚讚)、黃金鯡魚、鹹豬肉、調味九孔、炸得酥酥脆脆的地瓜捲(老少咸宜) 5.水煮牛(我愛的系列)好吃愛吃辣的可以點辣一點 一點點的花椒味 肉片很嫩好吃 裡面黃豆芽 貢丸 魚丸 料也是給很足 6.醉雞香腸菇菇炊飯：這道很香很好吃 裡面料好多當場家人討論味道很像奈良的志津香釜飯 就是很紅很紅必須排隊的那間 7.杏鮑菇仙草雞湯：其實吃到上一道家人都飽了 但神奇的一碗湯來 我們竟然全部喝光!好喝 8.甜點水果：完全不馬虎的綜合水果拼盤!!下重本的馬卡龍甜點被三個小屁孩嗑光了 吃完飽到喉嚨~大大滿足 今天最驚喜是老闆得知我們是慶生 竟送壽星手環...

Excellent food at an affordable price. Food selection crafted to suit our family and the ingredients used were aplenty. Really good with total...
