This evening, I had the Winter Special set meal. For 258NTD, there was pork rib soup, minced plum pork with fried egg, and 2 vege side dishes. The meal served was very balanced, hearty, not salty and really tasted like a mother's cooking. I added a pork sausage which was cooked with Chinese wine. Delicious. It's a refreshing change after all of the touristy food.
Other set meals would have meat, rice with egg, sides and soup.
They have 3 types of chillies - Garlic, fried white bait fish (aka Ikan Billies for the SEA visitors) and Thai seafood chilli.
Please not that the restaurant is a short walk from the Police Station. Keep walking till you see the restaurant signage. It's worth the journey and getting a little lost...
Read moreUnpretentious, simple canteen, but with possibly the best food I ate in Hualien, and I spent 5 days eating in many places. The menu is small, but every dish is done to perfection. The braised pork knuckle with rice also looked great, but I was full. Note that you need reservations, because the seating space is limited. A must try while...

The grilled pork is also fantastic, and pairing both dishes with fried eggs makes the flavors even better. They also offer side dishes to balance the taste. A truly comforting spot—highly...
