My wife and I were in Hualien for the evening having visited Taroko National Park for the day before travelling onwards. The B&B is located on the coast though not all rooms have an ocean view, and we picked it partly because of the location also being a short walk from the Dongdamen Night Market. We walked in late afternoon to see a 9.9 Booking.com rating and wondered what it had done to deserve this, and were not disappointed.||||Check-in was handled by the manager, Jane, who spoke good English and was extremely helpful. For example, she helped out with pointing out places to eat and when we said that we were going to the Night Market, translated by hand a number of things for us to try when we were over there.||||Our room was not only spotlessly clean but immaculately, and I mean immaculately finished with the level of care and attention to detail that someone would attach to their own home. We had to leave shoes outside - a rack inside would be nice - but fine to keep the place clean. In terms of room amenities, there were L'Occitane toiletries that you would normally find in a 5-star resort hotel and Barista style coffee (no 3 in 1 sachets here!). There was even a heater over the shower in case you got cold immediately afterwards and great quiet A/C for use if you were too warm.||||Breakfast the following morning only begins at 8 a.m. (later than some places). It is slower than some locations but consists of a lovingly individually prepared breakfast by Jane and her based on choices that you advise the night before and was well worth the wait at a single large breakfast table that you share with the other guests.||||Before Sunrise B&B is an outstanding place to stay in Hualien and I would not hesitate to stay there again...
Read moreStayed here for 2 nights. Had to book months in advance for the room/view you fancy so I was really looking forward.
While the B&B directly overlooks the beach, you have to shut the window blinds whenever you use the toilet/bath so it defeats the purpose of bathing with a view.
The room was spacious, with all basic amenities including toiletries. However I was shocked to see that the hair conditioner had expired. Did housekeeping not check them before guests stay? The glass of the toilet needs more cleaning too. Room looks kind of worn and the bed is shorter than usual beds. My partner had allergy after sleeping for one night on the bed.
Coffee machine on the lobby floor looks unmaintained/unused for a long time and I couldn’t bring myself use it. Water dispenser is located on first floor so if you need to get water you’ll need to go downstairs. TV has no YouTube or chromecast or netflix, only Taiwan channels.
It’s a B&B so it lacks service. No housekeeping service available ie you won’t get fresh towels or your bed made. Or extra toothpaste if you need it. While it’s not a five star hotel, the service needs serious improvement. The owner was not genuinely hospitable. She even rolled her eyes at her staff when she did not respond to her when the postman is here.
They only provide one key card and it’s super inconvenient when you’re travelling with someone else. One of the key card has to be used in the room for lights and electricity and the other person would not be able to tap in from the main door if travelling out alone.
In terms of location it is conveniently located right beside the beach and within 10 mins walk to the nightmarket. There’s no convenient stores or cafes nearby. They serve breakfast everyday. Will...
Read moreWe booked the family room with oceanview for 2 nights. There's only 1 room on every floor - Good privacy! We were told to leave our shoes outside the room, it'll be great if a shoe rack were provided at the entrance. ||Our room is beautifully decorated with modern furnishings, a hi-tech bathroom with controls for ventilation, drying, sensor toilet bowl etc. The full glass windows offer an awesome view of the Pacific Ocean just opposite our room. It's relaxing to sit in the balcony watching the sea waves and on a Saturday morning, watching the marathoners run by. A pity there was no sunrise viewable during our visit due to the gloomy skies. Our room definitely has the best sunrise view! Simply walk across the road and take a stroll along the Pacific Ocean anytime - it's safe and peaceful...||Breakfast is tastefully prepared by Jane (owner) and her mum respectively on the 2 days of our stay. Each serving is prettily arranged and appetizing... Both Jane and her mum are very friendly and voluntarily offer many recommendations for places to eat and things to do in Hualien.||The highlight of our stay is Jane's pet- Waka, an adorable shiba inu who is tame and fun to play with. My boys were all...
