Three Koalas 三隻無尾熊 — Restaurant in Hualien City

Just visited this restaurant for lunch. Absolutely brilliant food. If you are passing through Hualien and need to fill up I would highly recommend this place. I usually highly critical of western food in Taiwan and the so called high rated places usually get a zero from me. This one time I was impressed. I think that the main reason for this is the owner (bless his heart) works alongside his staff churning out the dishes. He is a dying breed of restaurant owners that actually runs the kitchen shoulder to shoulder ensuring every dish that passes his counter is perfect. I'm no michelin star fan and think they are overrated and believe the true essence of a meal is in the passion one puts in to make it and Three Koala's in Hualien is no exception to that rule. We had the spicy wings, honey wings, cheese burger, minced beef panini and a few drinks. Every item was tasty and served with.

Now to the highlight of our lunch - Dessert. We ordered 2 brownies with ice cream. I have eaten brownies all over Taiwan for the last 5 years. This was "The Best" I have ever eaten period.

I never give a 5 star rating. But today "Three Koala's" deserves every corner of every star it's rated.

Edit 18/1/23 VERY BAD EXPERIENCE COSECUTIVELY TWICE

at first they messed up the order , they got me a different meat ( my eating habits don't include that particular meat)

and then today, they insisted I get my dessert even before I started on my burger...so I had to rush through my meal to eat the dessert before it melted. the reason being the staff needed to clean the cutlery (which is a lame excuse , as a single plate was not gonna cost precious time in my opinion). Besides they gave the brownie unheated, now I'm not sure if that's the way they do it... as it was my first time . but it's pain to cut a cold brownie

amazing food ,but bad hospitality.

PS: THE LOCALS AT THE ADJECENT TABLE GOT THEIR DESERT AT 9.15PM ,AFTER CLOSING. so idk if it was a foreigner thing or what...

Service was good but they seems like to rush you at the end. We're talking and the server keep coming back and forth to clean up the table. But they are friendly. Food was served very quick. But it's a so so for me. We ordered cream chicken and bacon gratin with extra cheese. Also a honey and cheese pizza. The size, the price and the taste in conclusion is a so so.
