I highly suggest if you would like to eat sushi from this restaurant (food is good) that you order take out. In this way you will avoid:
Waiting more than 2 hours outside in the heat and humidity to get a seat
Continuing to wait outside even when you can see tables available inside, because the servers are planning to let a big batch of tables in at the same time, rather than table-by-table as seats become available
A long face from the reservations clerk after you try to walk into the restaurant after receiving their (unnecessary) telephone call that a table is available, but she hasn’t called out your number yet
Severe delays on the arrival of half of your food due to confusion between wait staff and chefs because (to quote) “Too many orders were placed at once because many groups of customers were seated at the same time” … (Hmmm, I wonder why that happened…)
The waitress suggesting you cancel the rest of your order because the chefs are too busy (preparing for the next day), which is why your remaining food hasn’t arrived more than 40 minutes after you placed the order - meaning you could have waited almost 3 hours to have your dinner, and due to the inconvenience it will cause the staff, you should go home hungry.
Overall a terrible experience to dine here, with bad attitude from staff, and no one wanting to take responsibility for the mistakes (ours was not the only table on the night to have these kinds of issues). But preference seems to be given to take out orders.
Personally I don’t think your restaurant should offer take out if you cannot properly take care of the customers who have gone there to dine in person, and waited so long to be seated. But maybe I am just old fashioned.
PS. We came here on a Monday night, which should not have been so chaotic. Management and systems definitely need to be...
Read moreOrdered chawanmushi, oyakodon, ginger pork don, taiwan fishery sashimi. Chawanmushi had too much truffle oil and was not firm enough. Oyakodon had an interesting amount of mushroom and cabbage. Ginger pork don was decent. Soup that came along with ginger pork don and oyakodon was strange. Miso base but with extra clam/salmon bone broth. Made the soup overly fishy. Sashimi was mediocre, but did not look cleanly cut, didn't catch the names of the fishes. Ikura seemed to have been soaked with mirin that did not add to the flavour (in fact seemed to subtract from the ikura). Raw oyster did not taste fresh and was watery. Only good thing was the meal was definitely filling for a decent price. (forgot to take photos of...
Read moreOne of the best Japanese sushi places I’ve had in Taiwan! Everything was so fresh and of high quality you would not be expecting it from a random Japanese shop tucked away. We got the sashimi platter which I would recommend and the pork katsu. The rest were just as amazing but I reckon it comes down to personal preference. We topped it up with some grilled sushi. Also pro tip put some calamansi into the pork katsu and it tastes so much better. The lemon cuts through the grease oil and fat and it adds to the flavour with the...
