Visited after a few recommendations, unfortunately didn’t manage to taste the food. Upon arriving at 20:20, first thing being told orders must be placed now and takes 30 minutes and at 21:30 we need to leave - if we can accept, we can stay. Apart from the attitude, and clearly disturbance of their quiet evening, the two people in service were busy with other guests. 8 guests in total if not mistaken. Being left with the information we try to find our way to a table, and being stopped as we have to wait… not sure for what as it’s super quiet and we were told to rush before. All in all we left. I feel sad for the owner of the restaurant that staff goes above and beyond to avoid guests coming late, clearly they either make too much revenue already and can afford to let guests walk out. We certainly will not go back, there are simply too many restaurants that care, deserve our money and are genuinely happy. Writing this while sitting across the road at a nice place with service - funny enough our neighbor table overheard our conversation, and cannot agree more. Seems the reputation is not all it seems online. I hope this helps the restaurant team to improve for future...
Read moreI'm not sure what changed over the course of a year. Maybe new management but a year ago this place was 5 star, now it's just average at best and not worth the money.
The food quality has dropped as it seems like they're cutting costs. Smaller portions, lower quality ingredients, and scaled back presentation.
The real shocker was the drop in service. We were the only ones in the restaurant and we had to wave our server down for everything. Refills, to order, to ask for our table to be cleared, everything. There was little to no response from anyone who worked there. Just grunts and silence.
In my mind it's just not worth the money anymore. There's other western food in Kaohsiung for better value and quality.
I really think the place has changed ownership or management. It was a stark change from when I last came...
Read moreOrdered a set for two with Prime rib steak as main course, calamaris as appetizer and salad and mushroom soup as sides. The mushroom soup is really creamy and flavorful, tastes excellent. Salad also fresh and with a nice salty-vinegary creamy dressing. The honey rye bread was a bit too sweet for my taste, but they bake it fresh and serve it with butter for those who like it.
The steak we ordered medium and it was fried perfectly as ordered. It was juicy inside and had a nice glazed crust which was salted and peppered. However, we were turned off by the amount of fat on the outer edges of the steak. I had to cut 2-3 big bites off of the sides in total because it was more fat than beef. The rest of the steak was good, I'd say 85% of the steak edible (rest were too...
